With so much more to worry about how can Eli worry about such a petty thing??? Its not like he`s being picked by Arizona ...And San Diego has to be one of the most desirable cities in the country....If the kid had any balls he would STFU and turn the Chargers around, I can`t believe this one....Any NFL team can become a winner, look what New England has done recently...even the Bengals are on the right track....this is pathetic.

What if Eli didn`t have Archie and Peyton play before him, would he have this same attitude? No way in hell...

I think the Chargers may use him as trade bait. We'll know when the NYGiants are on the clock. If they don't trade him, which I hope they don't, he's a Charger!

The AHOLE in this situation is the Chargers for goin public. His conversations with the Mannings were in private. By going public did he not only embarass the NFL,the Chargers and the Mannings but he weakened his trade leverage.

can someone please explain to me why playing for the ny giants is so much better than the sd chargers?

neither team is any good and i would much rather live in san diego than the rotten apple.

ger- chargers had to go public because all of their fans want them to take Manning, if they didn't their fans would accuse them of losing on purpose so they can move to LA.

Perfect set-up for Manning. He can take his time playing for a good coach (Tom Caughlin), and learn behind Kerry Collins for a year or two. If he is as good as Peyton he may be the next big star in the NFL thanks to playing in NYC. If he flops there is always Arizona, or Buffalo.

N.J. (AP) Eli Manning made a deal of his own Saturday.

After the top overall pick was acquired by the New York Giants from the San Diego Chargers, Manning had to bargain with punter Jeff Feagles for jersey No. 10.

Manning, who wore 10 at Mississippi, was told Feagles was willing to part with it for a price the cost of the Feagles' family vacation to Florida next spring.

The quarterback signed off quickly.

''It's probably important to him,'' said Feagles, who will wear No. 17 next season to mark his 17th season. ''I think it's important for the organization. He's going to have that number for a long time. I'm happy to do it.''

Just to clear the air on this. Archie Manning is one of the best QB to play the game. The guy understands playing on a bad team. During his tenure in the NFL Manning played for the New Orleans Saints and never achieved more than an 8-8 record. The year they went 7-9 he recieved the coveted NFL Offensive Player of the year.

Archie lost a lot of respect by meddling in this. You had to figure there was going to be a trade when Eli didn't put the Charger hat on. I don't remember Archie making a big deal when Peyton went to the Colts. The Colts were in a much worse situation at the time. I don't hate Archie for wanting the best for his kid. He should know better about the image and pressure that is now on Eli.

Being a Charger fan, is Rivers coming out of college that much better than Brees when he came out? I say no. The Chargers should have went for Rothliesberger instead.

Stupid stupid move by the entire Manning family.

Ultimately going with NY could be a mid 10 figure WINDFALL in the short run for ELI.

Even more in the long run compared to San Diego.
