The problem is that doesn't solve the big picture. So now we start staying at home for sporting events and other activities because of fear of terrorism or other crazies? This is a big problem with this country right now.Better experience at home to watch movies especially if you have a pretty good system at home.. Don't need to be in a uncomfortable seat with excess noise breathing everyone else's germs, eating $8 bag of popcorn and a $4 coke...
I have a Master's degree in Homeland Security. In many of my classes discussions about ways terrorist groups could hit the US. There are so many soft targets out there: movie theaters, Starbucks, sporting events/concerts/arenas, schools, mass transit systems/subways, shopping malls, etc.
Imagine that a terrorist group goes to the 7pm showing of an opening night big-hit movie (Batman, Marvels, etc) in 4 cities (say, Boston, NYC, DC, and Philly) and at 7:45pm they all set off some sort of bomb or shoot up the place. NO ONE would go to the movies for quite a while.
Imagine they do the same thing in those 4 cities at a Starbucks at 8:02am during the morning coffee rush. NO ONE would go to a coffee shop for a while.
It would define the term "terrorism".

I'm much more concerned about our homegrown American crazies than I am terrorists like Isis. Aurora, Columbine, Sandy Hook, Oklahoma City, McDonald's, Luby's, Virginia Tech, SIKH Temple, and now Lafayette, all American hits. But the media keeps emphasizing the terrorist angle, which is much fewer and farther between.I have a Master's degree in Homeland Security. People don't seem to get that the Democrats like their guns just as much as the Republicans. We've had a thousand incidents of shootings while Obama has been in office and nothing has been done. And nothing will ever be done unless we have a joint venture between both parties. And i suspect that the only thing that could possibly get the ball rolling is if we have a mass single incident killing. I'm talking about 200 or 300 people or more at one time. It usually takes something on a massive scale like a 911 or similar before they break down and start implementing any new laws or regulations...
That's the million dollar question. I'm a Dem, but I like my gun as much as the next fella. The key is it would have to be something both parties could agree on. And nothing brings both parties together like a disaster on a massive scale. They are 200 years too late to eliminate guns, so it would have to be some other types of regulations...Sure...but what are we talking about? What "new laws" or "regulations"? I'm all in favor of a background check. But what does "gun control" consist of?
