I am thinking about doing it. I got quoted 2 pretty good flat rates but I don't want to be one of those fools who gets bamboozled. I keep getting an image in my head of some movers coming over and packing up all of my shit and arriving at my new house and then hijacking me for more money in order to unload it.

Has anybody here ever used craigslist to hire movers?

I never used CL, but I did use Uhauls website. They make recommendations of movers in your area. It also had a place with reviews of those people/companies made by those that have hired them

I had a great experience with that, however, mine did make me supply the truck. Which was fine. Was the smartest decision I ever made!

You can get some pretty cheap workers at your local Home Depot. They're just hanging outside looking for work.

I need to put up an apartment for rent. Would craigslist be the best place to put it? Local paper isn't that good anymore since nobody reads it.

I used professional movers the last time I moved. It was not that expensive and came with insurance (peace of mind)

The prices here in Oregon are regulated by the state and I'm not sure that is the same for every state though.

If you are near a major city, yes.

Insurance is the key. Last two moves for me expensive furniture was nicked up. Refinishing completely covered by movers insurance. If you have a collection of college furniture then Whale is dead on.
