To all of you people who think it is a good idea to pay off no interest loans...

I will very happily take them off your hands. In fact, I'll even pay you 5%-10% interest depending on the amount... I'll back this with 700+ credit and a secure 6 figure job.

This is the stupidest discussion I think I've seen on this board ever.

That being said, my parents feel the same way - they'd rather pay cash for vacation homes than take 5-6% mortgages even though they have 30 years of records showing they've made 15-16% in the stock market. I've had this discussion with them 100 times. At least I've gotten them to become willing to at least think about it... Of course there are + tax benefits to some loans as well...

Been reading Dave Ramsey (Total Money Makeover) and he talks about slowly eliminating all debt. I have your debt that you can't help (Internet, Cell Phone, Gas, Electricity, Food, Etc...) and than really a pretty good size house payment and a $550 monthly truck payment.

The truck payment is on a no interest type loan and I owe around $13,000 still. Is it dumb to pay it off if I have the money to do it? I am sure the logical answer is to use the 13k and invest it and make another 1k or so off of it but would or have some on here just paid off a no interest loan before to "clear the books".

:think2: the more you post ICE the squarer you look.

it was a question that had many different answers. Which most gave good reasons for their answers, none of which were wrong. It is a mindset.

You don't have to read them. It is a discussion board/forum.

Who are you is the next question?

seems to me the simplest thing is buy a u.s. tbill from the government. you can reinvest every 6 months and the liquidity is there as is the safety of principal. if something should happen to you and you cant work then you can always liquadate tbill and pay off note. its not about earnming extra but about earning a little more with complete liquidity and no risk. regards heart222
