You have to have credit to have a credit score. If you have no debt than the bureaus have no reported history. If you pull a credit report on someone who has no credit or has never financed the bureau will report it as 'unavailable'. Every now and again i'll come across an old lady whose bills were entirely in their husbands name and they have no credit.

You still have a score

Lots of dumb comments in this thread.

Yes many many companies do credit checks.
And no it does not have to be for a position in a finance or a person that handles money.

And 2 just because someone borrows money does not make them irresponsible.

And 3 even if you don't borrow money you still have a credit score.
If you are 18 or older and have a SS# you have a credit score even if you never borrowed a dime in your life. There is no such thing as not having a credit score.

There are exactly zero people in the USA that are 18 or older with a SS# who don't have a credit score

Wrong

And you want to call other comments in this thread dumb...

There wouldn't be a score, it will say 'unavailable' or 'insufficient'. You wouldn't have a score. You can even have an equifax score and not one with Trans-union if the creditor reports to one and not the other.
