is it a good thing or bad to be a little nervous about your bets?

should your bets be so small that you shouldn't have NO EMOTION involved win or lose or should you bet enough to feel it a little (excitmenet, joy, anger,etc...)

Successful gamblers will have no emotion(most the time).

But isnt that what gambling is about.....THE EXCITEMENT! :dancefool

On a serious note, think about it ICE. If your gambling is surfacing negative emotions, then you probably have a problem.

I think the perfect amount is when you can shrug it off and laugh when you lose and just get ready for tomorrow. Not so much where you'll be tempted to overbet on the late game from bad earlier games.

this is not me. If anythng I am OVERLY conservative, betting less than 1% of my bankroll.

I am thinking about upping it because of the fact after a day of winning or losing I usually feel nothing and that makes it hard to stay motivated. But I have been on the other side of the coin and had some sleepless nites and that was no fun either.

Bigbet "Successful gamblers will have no emotion(most the time)"

I think it is a little more complex than that - It is probably true for sports betting where plays are roughly 1,2 or 3% of bankroll and odds are even money more or less. For horse race bettors the stakes are smaller and returns higher so I think they are going to have emotion more when they have a bad beat loss or a good win.

Risk/Reward is the biggest factor that determines level of emotion IMO.

Its definitely not good to be emotionally involved.

I usually remain quite calm in live poker but online I find pocket aces increase my heart rate, so I guess I'm using concious effort in live games that isn't necessary online.

Sportsbetting is just another day in the life.

I disagree just a little...if you can just laugh off a loss, you're not taking it seriously enough. You should be disappointed, but not suicidal or anything. Gotta be able to accept the loss, learn from your mistakes, and get better because of it. Being able to laugh it off doesn't really teach you anything, I think that'd mean the person is too recreational about betting. If you suffer a bad beat or something, then that's a different matter.

The more nervousness, the better! That's the whole thrill of it. This might not work so well for people who depend on good emotional picks for a living though...

you have a chance to lose your money, you should be feeling something. I do not bet anywhere near over my head, and I consider myself to be a longterm winner, both in the past and future..... however I always am anxious when I put a play in. It is part of being human. However with that said if I lose I do not make a big deal out of it, and if I win I am happy but it is just another game. I really do not think there is any right answer, but a wrong one would be to let these feelings influence you into bad decisions or depression. That is when it is when you have a problem. Bad decisions involve chasing a losing bet or on the other end playing stupidly just because you won. It works both ways.

Usually I am too careful w/ my money, hence my screename. We all know how it feels when you lose. Well I don't take it that well. Been gambling for about 10 years now, no longer feel great when I win, my brain says "Thats the way its SUPPOSED to happen" yet the losses still hurt, it sucks. So I bet an amount where it really doesn't matter if I win or lose.
