Would like some responses on this. A lot of people here have definitive beliefs on this.

my friend just came out of the closet. i was very disappointed(ok let the bashing begin, im a homophobe, im ignorant, blah blah) anyways, he is very educated in science. i asked him why, and if he can maybe go back or maybe he's confused and so on..basically in denial or wishing he wasn't gay because it is not something i agree with and i hated that one of my friends was gay. anyways, going back to the science thing, he said something about when a mother is having a boy and is stressed out during pregnancy(which woman isnt) i mean very stressed out, it affects the kid and he is more likely to be gay. something like that, i can't remember. anyways, my opinion is that being gay is a disease just like an other disease(maybe his theory helps my case too) and it should be looked at as a disease and we should work towards finding a cure. because a man with a man is not the way it is meant to be. i know im going to get bashed for this but im very adamant about this. homosexuality is wrong! it is, in my opinion a disease or disorder. in fact some scientists are even studying it as such. i dont know what causes it, but it is a disease. this society's attitude that makes it seem okay to be gay or feel there's nothing wrong with it or getting accepting it more thinking well that's their choice or as long as they are happy..no! that's the wrong attitude. people on drugs are happy too, doesn't mean we shouldnt cure them. that's my rant.

I believe in free will so I say pretty much everything's a choice. It may be a very obvious choice for some, ie. gay and happy vs. straight and miserable or vice versa, but it's a choice nonetheless.

Whether it's right or wrong, how society should regard it etc. are separate issues. I'm pretty sure the thread starter wasn't interested in discussing those issues or he probably would have asked a different question.

wow. homosexuality is a disease that needs a cure. that is pretty extreme but it answers the question raised. from what I gather you agree with your science gay friend and believe being gay is basically a birth defect, right?

Agreed...I don't see how a kid just going through puberty, face covered in zits, feeling awkward with all of life's changes would choose to further ostracize themselves by being gay.

I don't get picked on enough in school, I'm gonna be gay...that will make it all better...

I haven't come across any science that sufficiently supports the idea that people are born gay. But it's logical to me that people who are born with certain hormonal deficiencies are more likely to be attracted to the same sex.

Its not a choice. It is on par with mental retardation, Downs or any other abnormal development. I know not popular but it is what it is. Only people choose to make this a "bad thing" where in reality its just a error of some sort in development. The Brain contains 100 billion Neurons, just the slightest damage or impairment in development can be life altering.

i agree with you. it does make you inferior and it does mean something is wrong with you just like being mentally handicapped.

Even the mentally retarded and downs syndrome kids are smart enough not to try and let a horse mount them and stick its horsedick in their ass.

I have worked with the mentally and physically handicapped and don't remember one of them talking with a lisp and sticking rodents up each others asses.

Queers will burn in eternal hellfire.

I didn't choose to like blonde women with firm tits. I didn't say one day "I think I'm going to like women". I just did. From an early age.

No one decides they are going to be attracted to the opposite sex or to their own sex. Especially since the sex drive is such a strong drive. People are strongly physically attracted to the people they are attracted to. You can't just make a decision on something that strong.

A man wanting a cock in his mouth or rammed up his bum has something wrong with him IMO.

I go with the deformed brain theory.

Sexual attraction is mainly a product of the mind.
