think its a bad matchup. Finland IMO could be a dangerous sleeper team. Teemu Selanne's last olympics and wants a medal. solid ass roster. Jokinen, Koivu,Ruutu,Selanne. We better bring our A game and not over look them.
I really like the American's chances for a Silver now that the are playing Finland in the Semis.
To be honest The Czech Republic had me nervous with a roster full of NHL regulars and naturally any team with Jaromir Jagr on it has to be feared.
Now the US won't be seeing a Czech roster with Jagr that is full of the following NHLers:
Tomas Vokoun of the Florida Panthers (Goalie)
Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils
Tomas Plekanec of the Montreal Canadiens
Tomas Kaberle of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Jan Hejda of the Columbus Blue Jackets
Filip Kuba of the Ottawa Senators
Pavel Kubina of the Atlanta Thrashers
Zbynek Michalek of the Poenix Coyotes
Roman Polak of the St Louis Blues
Marek Zidlicky of the Minnesota Wild
Martin Erat of the Nashville Predators
Thomas Fleischmann of the Washington Capitals
David Krejci of the Boston Bruins
No question in my mind the US got a break playing Finland and not having to face The Czechs.
The Finns will try to defeat Team USA the same way they did versus The Czechs with a very low scoring game played in front of their excellent goalie Miikka Kiprusoff of the Calgary Flames.
Now it is Team Canada and Slovakia (I was hoping for Sweden) in one semi and The Finns vs Team USA in the other semi to be played on Friday Feb 26th. with the winners advancing to play for the Gold on Sunday the 28th at 3:15PM EST.
The Bronze medal game between the two semi final losers is scheduled for Saturday the 27th at 10PM EST. I hope neither Canada or The US are in that one.
Finland rolled over - something I don't think The Czechs would have done..
Big game on Sunday as Canada should romp tonite over Slovakia setting up another US Vs Canada Hockey Gold Medal contest..Ya gotta like Canada to win the gold, just to much firepower.
