With starter Tommy Maddox (torn elbow ligament) out at least six weeks and backup Charlie Batch (knee) out for the season, Roethlisberger will become the first Steelers rookie quarterback in 34 years to start as early as the third game of the season. The last rookie to start this early in his career was Terry Bradshaw.

i hope so, too.

in the 1 fantasy league i REALLY care about - we have pennington who has a BYE so we have to decide on who to start between AZ's McCown and Ben. leaning to McCown because rookie QBs making their first start - especially on the road - don't do to well and as much as miami sucks - it's not their defense that sucks - it's the offense that is offensive.

Yes, and I have heard he can spell CAT without spotting him the C or the A.

And thats why they play the game.

There will be a learning curve and I am not sure this is a good spot on the road against Miami's D, but it's his time. I think he will be the QB from here out, even when Tommy comes back. He is used to the shotgun which he wont use as much in the NFL, but once he gets used to it, he has the tools.

I like this big kid..Hopefully he can make it happen for the Steelers..They have needed help at the position for years..He is the prototype for success in the league..Pocket passer with smarts is what I hope they get..Of course there will be learning curve..But if he can throw the deep ball..watch out..
