A request made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by the investigative group Judicial Watch reveals that the Internal Revenue Service used donor lists of tax-exempt organizations to target them for audits.
“The IRS produced the records in a Freedom of Information lawsuit seeking documents about selection of individuals for audit-based application information on donor lists submitted by Tea Party and other 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organizations,” the group states. In addition, IRS officials warned that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce may come under “high scrutiny” by the IRS.
“These documents that we had to force out of the IRS prove that the agency used donor lists to audit supporters of organizations engaged in First Amendment-protected lawful political speech,” said Tom Fitton, the group’s president. “And the snarky comments about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the obsession with Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPD show that the IRS was targeting critics of the Obama administration.”
“President Obama may want to continue to lie about his IRS scandal,” said Fitton. “These documents tell the truth—his IRS hated conservatives and was willing to illegally tax and audit citizens to shut down opposition to Barack Obama’s policies and reelection.”

The start "political correctness" is captured in the Truman Library and Museum in Independence Missouri. On display are four telegrams between then-President Harry Truman and General Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the WW2 Surrender Agreement in September 1945. The contents of those four telegrams below are exactly as received at the end of the war - not a word has been added or deleted!

From: General D A MacArthur
Tomorrow we meet with those yellow-bellied bastards and sign the Surrender Documents, any last minute instructions?

From: H S Truman
Congratulations, job well done, but you must tone down your obvious dislike of the Japanese when discussing the terms of the surrender with the press, because some of your remarks are fundamentally not politically correct!

Wilco Sir, but both Chester and I are somewhat confused, exactly what does the term politically correct mean?

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end!

Thought I would throw this in - no sense starting another thread lol.

Political correctness has become a justification for this administration as the ends justify the means.

If you look at it you can see that Truman was refering to "mainstream media" back in 1945 and labeling them as sick. Wonder what he would think now.

Note this came out on 7-21 and the lead post was dated 7-22:

[h=1]Obama defends IRS, says tea party targeting didn’t happen[/h]

By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 21, 2015
President Obama defended the IRS Tuesday in an interview with “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, saying the tea party-targeting scandal was actually Congress‘ fault for passing “a crummy law” and that the real problem is the agency doesn’t have enough money.
Mr. Obama, who has overseen a series of scandals at the IRS, the Veterans Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and now the Office of Personnel Management, was asked why government didn’t seem to be working on his watch.
But the president said he’s not to blame, using the IRS as an example of how what went wrong wasn’t his fault, and questioning whether tea party groups were ever targeted.

The IRS‘ internal auditor concluded that the agency did, in fact, target conservative and tea party groups for intrusive scrutiny, and Mr. Obama’s own Justice Department is still conducting a criminal investigation into the targeting.
Mr. Obama, though, disputed that version Tuesday, according to the pool reporter traveling with the president.
Mr. Obama said Congress “passed a crummy law” that provided vague guidance to the people who worked at the IRS. And he said that employees implemented the law “poorly and stupidly.”
The president went on to say that the “real scandal around the IRS is that they have been so poorly funded that they cannot go after these folks who are deliberately avoiding tax payments.”
Congress, prodded by Republican leaders, has sliced money from the IRS, saying it’s punishment for wasteful spending and for the targeting scandal.
But the IRS has said those cuts are now affecting its core services such as answering taxpayers’ phone calls during this year’s filing season.
Mr. Obama has asked for a major boost in funding for the IRS to get back on track for customer service and for stepping up investigations of taxpayers.

From the above article.

Mr. Obama said Congress “passed a crummy law” that provided vague guidance to the people who worked at the IRS. Then you should have vetoed it.

And he said that employees implemented the law “poorly and stupidly.”

The president went on to say that the “real scandal around the IRS is that they have been so poorly funded that they cannot go after these folks who are deliberately avoiding tax payments.”

Wow! That takes Caitlyn type balls to make a statement like that.

They sure as hell went after the Tea Party - didn't slow them down there. Hypocracy abound with this administration and it all starts at the top.

MAY 23, 2014 @ 12:02 PM 21,225 VIEWSWith $3.3 Billion Owed, Should Tax-Delinquent Federal Employees--Including IRS--Be Fired?

Robert W. Wood ,
CONTRIBUTOR

I focus on taxes and litigation.

Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own.

Federal employees are behind in their tax obligations. In fact, 318,000 of them. And the dollars that are due aren’t exactly a rounding error. They add up to $3.3 billion. Should federal employees pay their taxes? Yes, and most do.
The latest IRS report is as of September 30, 2013. If you apply the numbers, it works out to a delinquency rate of 3.27%. That is vastly lower than the 8.7% delinquency rate for the entire U.S. population. On the other hand, the federal employee tax delinquency rate is rising, up 2.6% from a year ago. And the mere fact that the federal government is paying some people, who in turn are not paying their taxes rubs some people the wrong way. Perhaps the best example of the topic involves IRS employees.
There again, it is worth looking at tax delinquency rates by categories of government agencies. The rate for IRS and Treasury Department employees is actually much better, meaning there are fewer IRS tax delinquents than there are in most of the rest of the government. Even so, there’s something about IRS employees tasked with administering and collecting taxes from everyone else that gets some people’s goat.

That issue came to a head recently when it was revealed that IRS Employees Act Up, Don’t Pay Taxes But Still Get Bonuses. The explanation is more nuanced than you might think, involving unionized employees and other issues. However, Congress is considering whether federal workers who become tax delinquents should be fired. The National Treasury Employees Union thinks the legislation is unnecessary. Agencies can already take action against delinquent employees and garnish their wages to collect tax debts.
But last year, Rep. Chaffetz and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) authored bills to force federal agencies, the U.S. Postal Service and congressional offices to fire employees who aren’t paying. While there was some debate, the bills didn’t advance. This year, people may be more fed up with government, more fed up with taxes, or both.
Another “fire tax delinquents” bill has been introduced by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark. and it appears to be getting more traction than similar bills last year. The bill applies to federal employees of the executive and legislative branches and U.S. Postal Service workers who are delinquent on their taxes and have not entered into an agreement to pay.
The legislation would also prohibit the government from hiring job applicants with seriously delinquent tax debt. Notably, current law already says IRS employees can be fired for failing to pay their taxes. But the proposed legislation would go a good deal further. If history is any indication, this bill won’t pass. But like so many other tax issues out there, this one gets some people pretty fired up.
It also turns out that hundreds of congressional employees, perhaps even including some Senators and Representatives, owed $8.6 million in unpaid taxes. The figure for this select group was even higher the previous year, when it was $10.9 million. The House of Representatives had a tax delinquency rate of 4.9 percent, while the Senate’s rate was 3.2 percent.

[h=1]Federal Employees Collectively Owe Over $3.5 Billion in Taxes[/h]By Ian Smith • March 24, 2015 • Comments (124)

A new report from the IRS shows that current and former federal employees collectively owe $3,539,203,480 in unpaid taxes as of the end of FY 2014.
Out of this total number, $1,141,622,621 is owed by civilian employees, $602,698,872 by retired civilian employees, and the remainder by active and retired military members.
Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) has been vocal about disciplining federal workers who are delinquent on their taxes. He has called in the past for firing tax delinquent federal employees.
Chaffetz is also the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, and he will be holding markup hearings for several bills this week, one of which is the Federal Employee Tax Accountability Act of 2015 (S 303), a bill which would make federal employees with seriously delinquent tax debt ineligible to receive bonuses.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve in the federal workforce. It is disconcerting that federal civilian employees owe more than one billion dollars in back taxes. These employees are not exempt from their civic responsibility to fulfill tax obligations and those who refuse to pay what they owe should be held accountable,” said Chairman Chaffetz.
One recent solution put in place to address the number of tax delinquencies is to allow garnishing money from federal employees’ TSP accounts. The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) issued a final rule last September in the Federal Register that makes TSP accounts subject to federal tax levies.
The complete tax delinquency report from the IRS is included below.

Underfunded - maybe not if they concentrated on what Federal employees owe.
