You got to be out of your mind to declare gambling winnings and losses. I knew I was dealing with lots of rookies here but now it is confirmed.

One thing to keep in mind is that the IRS has the burden of proving guilt. As long as you say nothing and Neteller says nothing, I am not sure there is a case, but i could be wrong.

I was under the impression that the big winners paid their taxes anyway. I guess not.

I told them I was 'merely' holding it for a drug cartel working out of Mexico, and not to worry about me doing anything terrorist related like betting on football

Strut888/Fishhead?

If all or most of that $97,000 deposits to your account is winnings you should be very happy!
If on the other hand , you have documentation of depositing many thousands into neteller than that amount will be deducted by your accountant for actual taxes due. Have you won close to that amount or is that just the figure deposited from Neteller?
As far as I know the IRS will be satisfied if you or accountant just report the facts and you are still a "receational player" with some other activity listed as occupation, I don't think it will be a problem. However, if that's the only income or (90% of your income, than it might be a different story--so you'd need to check with an attorney.
I would think!

This is all hypothetical, but I would like some serious answers. You can adjust the $$$ numbers to your own situation. Just wondering what you would tell the IRS bum during the audit.
