Countdown is near, and the US is gearing up for war. Today it was stated on CNN that :

We are ready militarily, but if we don't have the infrastructure (meds, food, water, shelter, etc.) to support the possible 2 million Iraqi refugees, then we have already lost the war.

I agree somewhat. The liberals will definitly consider it a failure. In fact, if everything doesn't go perfect, if we have one US casualty, the whole mission will be a failure.

In my opinion, our key goal is to get Saddam out of power. If we do that it ill be successful. Everything else is just a bonus.

from the conservative posts on this site one would think that a conservative was someone who didn't care at all about any person other than him/herself.

Let me re-phrase for those who couldn't understand my last post. Obviously, we want to save as many people as possible. However, if we can't, the mission will not be a complete failure. No conservative wants to see innocent people die. I know a lot of Liberals are willing to sit around a ignore the Iraqi people but Bush and the current government is not like that. That's part of the reason we are going into Iraq.

actually, there is not a selfless act that is not, at the same time, a selfish one. Not wanting my descendents to bear the brunt of any terrorist's aggression due to an irrational response from an even more irrational foreign policy--much like the scenario that the"babyboomers" have given us: A world full of strife and disease-- I find my objections to this war to be entirely selfish and, at once, full of dissent. They smack of the ideals that we were given by more courageous men under some very American beliefs.
