The best QB to ever wear a Cyclone uniform may be TheRX's own CY1981........a scrambling strong armed QB in Ames in the late 70's.
At one time, CY also held the record for having had the most career HR's at ISU when he was a member of the Cyclone baseball team, a team that year in and year out challenged for the Big Eight title in his tenure there.

Up until the 1895 season the Iowa Agricultural College (Iowa State) teams were known as the "Cardinals, but on Sep. 29 under legendary coach Glenn "Pop" Warner the Cardinals routed the Northwestern Wildcats, 36-0. During that Summer many tornadoes had hit Iowa, inspiring the Chicago Tribune headline: "Struck by a Cyclone." The article went on to say, "Northwestern might as well have tried to play football with an Iowa cyclone as with the team it met yesterday." Since then the Iowa State teams have been known as the "Cyclones".
Jack Trice, stadium namesake
Jack Trice was the first Iowa State athlete to die as a member of an Iowa State athletic team. He died three days after his first game playing for Iowa State against the University of Minnesota on October 6, 1923. He suffered a broken collarbone early on, but continued to play until he was trampled by a group of Minnesota players. It is disputed whether he was trampled on purpose or if it was an accident. He was also the first black athlete at Iowa State. A statue commemorates him outside of the stadium named for him, Jack Trice Stadium. His legacy was forgotten until sometime in the 70's when students discovered a plaque commemorating him in State Gym. They decided to put up a petition to name the stadium, at the time known as Cyclones Stadium, after him. Originally they got the field named after him in 1984. The stadium was named Jack Trice Stadium in 1997.
The night before the game he wrote down his thoughts going into the game, "My thoughts just before the first real college game of my life: The honor of my race, family & self is at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will. My whole body and soul are to be thrown recklessly about the field tomorrow. Every time the ball is snapped, I will be trying to do more than my part. On all defensive plays I must break thru the opponents' line and stop the play in their territory. Beware of mass interference. Fight low, with your eyes open and toward the play. Watch out for crossbucks and reverse end runs. Be on your toes every minute if you expect to make good

The Voice of the Cyclones--PETE TAYLOR
Taylor began his association with Iowa State in 1970, covering Cyclone events for KRNT radio when he was KRNT (now KCCI)-TV's sports director. Taylor was chosen Iowa Sportscaster of the Year four times during his career as the director of Des Moines' top-rated news telecast from 1969-90. In 1984, Iowa State signed a contract for exclusive broadcast rights for all sporting events with Clear Channel Communications. Taylor was picked alongside color man and partner Eric Heft, forming the broadcast tandem that spanned 24 years in basketball and 19 years in football.
Taylor worked 22 years as sports director at KCCI-TV in Des Moines prior to joining the Iowa State staff. In 1990, Taylor left KCCI to work full-time at Iowa State as director of athletic fundraising. He later was promoted to associate athletic director, serving as the department's liaison with men's basketball, football, the car program and special projects. Taylor also devoted time to Cyclone Club activities, including outings and banquets, and oversaw media relations and radio and television contracts.
In all, Taylor's contributions to Iowa State spanned four decades. In addition to his administrative and radio play-by-play duties, he also hosted the football coaches' TV Show, Cyclone Replay Show and radio call-in shows for both football and men's basketball.
Taylor, who was in his 33rd season as the radio play-by-play "Voice of the Cyclones," died Wednesday March 5, 2003 at University Hospitals in Iowa City after a brain hemorrhage following surgery to treat complications from a stroke. He was 57.

Fish- Thanks for the props but I will set the record straight. A slow weak armed QB would probably be more accurate.
By the way, did you see Iowa-ISU wrestling meet Saturday night set the all-time record for attendence, 15,955 at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Iowa won 20-15. They are No. 1 and No. 2 in the country. Football has Florida-OU. Wrestling is the state of Iowa.
