Gambling is a zero sum game.

Options and Futures Contracts are also zero sum games.

The Stock market is NOT a zero sum game as wealth can be CREATED.

So gambling is not like the stock market.

Gambling is like Gambling... feel the rush.

If you want to make money, invest it in the stock market or real estate... If you want action try sportsbetting.

for me:

100% different, if your talking about long term investing and mutual fund buying.........

really alike in terms of short term trading, including day trading and especially commodity trading......

the common (un-intelligent, greedy, cannot control himself or emotion, lack of discipline) has no business short term trading or sports wagering and should only buy good growth long term mutual funds and hold......... the savy intelligent investor (gambler) can make money in both........... trouble is, most fall into the common category........

no name calling but most people should not be handling their own money.. sad but true........

buddy you should look up the definition of gambling. Any type of investing is gambling.

If you want to make money, invest it in the stock market or real estate... If you want action try sportsbetting.

There are plenty of people making a living off betting sports and there are plenty of investors of stock/property that love the action.

Traditional types of investments aren't gambling? Stop kidding yourself.

if you want a good stock trading (investing) strategy............. hold ONLY between 5-8 stocks in your portfolio (ala the oracle of omaha), buy them when they are at 50% of their value (PE value), sell them when they are at or near 100% or their value (PE value)...........

1. hold only 5-8 stocks in your portfolio.

2. buy the selected stocks, only at 50% value or below.

3. always sell, when they reach at or near 100% value.......

do those 3 things and forget about it........

fish, this is a simple strategy that can be used for a lifetime......... you understand what im referring to,,,,,, right?

Buffett (oracle of omaha) doesnt trade this way, he does have a very limited portfolio but he buys and holds forever........ no telling what "Berkshire Hathaway" owns in coca cola and has forever.........

im telling you,,,,,,,,,, always sell these things when they reach 100% of their PE value and replace them with another stock at 50% of its PE value..

just keep repeating this process over and over,,,,,,,,, there is no timetable to this,,,,,,,,,, different stocks will take different amounts of time........

buying good long term mutual funds( at least 5 yrs of records) or more ------- are what 90% of Americans should be doing........

Dave Ramsey preaches this daily.................

the average person (90% at least of general public) has no business trading on a daily basis........

If you really think about it you can 'gamble' on anything, you can find action in everything you do.

but when you compare making money in sportsbetting to making money in the stock market, it is really two different games.

A business has value, (assets, earnings, patents), when you buy a share of the business you are buying that, although at a much higher price. You are speculating that one day the price you paid will be lower than the value of the company. It is not a zero sum game. if the price of the stock goes down it is not like the money you lost goes to someone that won (that is options and futures)

Sure trading stocks may 'feel' like gambling, same can be said that sportsbetting 'feels' like investing, but really they are two completely different animals.
