Internet won't work through router

Hello,

My internet access all of a sudden does not work through my Netgear router. Are there any suggestions as to what this problem might be or what I can do to fix it. I did the standard procedure of unplugging everything but it does not work. I refuse to believe that the router just does not work. Is there anything I can to do test the router?

Check all the dumb stuff first...

...cable plugged in, link lights on both card and router, etc.

If all looks good there, can you ping your router by IP address?

assumes you know your router's ip address

Have you tried unplugging everything? Including your PC and Cable Modem? Maybe somthing as simple as a PC reboot?

First power off the cable modem
power off the router
wait for 5 MINS. ( Actually 3 or 4 MINS is fine)
Now plug in everything
Press the reset button at the back of the router
Check if that would work .. This can be the simplest remedy

Can you enter the router by typing the router's IP Address in your browser?

is i am having i believe the same problem

i keep losing my internet connection 5, 6 times an hour ( for only a couple of minutes at a time) checked wires rebooted

still the same its been a week now

How do you connect to the Internet, DSL, etc?

gonna see if there is a reset button that
cheater stated in his post..


i have been using optim online for years never had this type of problem
