Neteller charges 3.9% when you deposit with a Visa card...they don't take MC yet. You're talking about a electronic transfer to your regular bank.
As far as the debit cards go, the offshores are getting to know what these are all about and know they can't deposit funds in those type cards so they will send you your money by an alternative method. If you do use these cards, either one, you should save your receipt just in case the offshore wants to see some proof of purchase or whatever. You know how they can be sometimes.
One thing I should mention. Even if you are depositing a smaller amount like $200-300, I would recommend getting the permanent card and spending the extra $5. First of all, it only costs $2 to reload each time for almost any amount up to $2500. 2nd, I kept on buying the gift cards because at the time I first started using them, the permanent card was $19.95, and for what I was depositing it just wasn't worth it. But then one day when I went to use it at Bodog, it was turned down. Bodog kept trying to tell me it was my "bank" that was refusing it. No less than 5 minutes later, I made a deposit at another sportsbook with no problem. Well apparently what the problem was, that Bodog keeps a record of all your credit card #'s, and they were showing me with 5 diffferent cards. So they, and Sportsbook.com also, won't let you use more than 5 cards for security-fraud reasons. So if you go with the "permenant" card you'll only have two card #. One would be the original one they give you immediately, and the second one would be the one with your name on it that they mail you in one week. You can checkout these cards at netspend.com and allaccessgift.com.
By the way Ace, the same thing happened to me with my Master Card. I was using it to make deposits offshore. When I tried about three places with no results, I got a call also. They are just trying to make sure that the card wasn't stolen. There are certain books that get around being shown as a offshore. CRIS is one, and BoS was another. BoS would show up as a "novelty" company. So I really don't think it's a case of them denying you because it was a gambling site.
One other thing. My CC is from Washington Mutual, and I don't know if this will happen with other banks, but, I made a deposit with Pinnacle which was accepted. However, when I got my next statement, there was a $10 charge for a cash advance. Since I had never taken a cash advance with this card, I called them to find out what the charge was all about. After checking out my account, he asked if I had made a deposit with a gambling site. I hesitated at first, but then realized that he must have KNOWN I did, so what was the sense of denying it. When I said yes, he stated that it was with McPinnacle, and it was to be treated like a cash advance. Apparently WaMu will let the charge go through, but they are going to nail you with a cash advance fee. Now this never happened with CRIS or BoS, so they must have a way around it.
One other point about the debit cards. Ace you mentioned how you were depositing at several poker sites, and this is also valid for the upcoming football season. Once you load the card, you don't have to deposit the whole amount at one site. So say you're gearing up for the NFL season and you deposit the max of $2500 on the card. You might want to deposit a dime at Pinny, and $500 at Cascade, and $500 elsewhere, and even save $500 in case someone comes up with a special bonus that you haven't heard about yet. You can also use this card at anywhere you can use a debit card...including the ATM, and for renting cars or making a room reservation. IF you don't have a CC for whatever reason, this debit card can be the answer to your prayers.
