Anyone know computers well?

I open IE, it just sits there and does nothing, then when I close it does the "Program Not Responding" crap.

I can start it by right clicking on it and selecting "Start Without Add-On's" but then obviously loses things (Adobe video player, etc..)

anyone got any bright ideas?

Well let's start off with "more info needed"

OS /IE ver. / what changes were made ,when this stated/ how long has this been "goin on" ?

but you can start at Tools / Internet options /

look at the Tabs:
1. Connectons = Lan Settings / auto detect settings
2. General = Browser history / Delete + check delete browser history
2b. Browser settings/ Automatic / then set box to 250 / then click to 0 history.

see where that takes ya ?

how does one Upgrade to fire fox?

"Upgrade" in this context is an adjective (your web browsing experience will be upgraded)

However, in a more cyber sense, what we're suggesting is that you download Mozilla Firefox (latest version), install it and then use it as your browser.

There are Help topics therein that can show you how to - with just a couple of commands - Export your InternetExplorer Favorites and Import them into Firefox.

As you're installing Firefox, it will ask, "Do you want Firefox to be your default browser?"

Answer YES

That way you can keep your InternetExplorer without uninstalling it, but it won't be used unless you deliberately open that program.

I did all this about two years ago and still have IE7 on my system. But I've not opened it in all that time after Export/Import of bookmarked favorites.

The 2 i use here the most are Firefox and Chrome. For anyone using Chrome it very fast but programs like Anonymizer will not work with it at all.Imo if you surfing the net you should never use your own ip and this is the problem with Chrome at this time.Firefox is the way to go...............ck

Ditto on what everyone else said about Firefox, instantly cured a lot of frustrations. IE is cluttered POS with too much crap that bogs it down.
