If I suffer some bad beats, etc. etc. I sometimes cant sleep at all. I dont want to take Ambien or valium, so i just sit there reading or watching infomercials. I wonder if there is anything natural that can help me sleep after those horrible days?

Sleeping basic strategy:

1. During the day and especially evening ,try to spend as much time as you can standing. The more you sit or lie down, the harder it can be to fall asleep.

2. When you do go to sleep, do not surrender and get back up during the night. Rather, think about things. Name all the Teams in the NFL by division. Predict the division season wins' that will be posted. Now do it for baseball. Try to name managers, players as you do this. You may well by out cold long before you get to the twins. Drive accross the country mentally naming states.

If you fret that you are not sleeping, you can breathe a deep breath thinking "yes, but I'm being productive and getting smarter".

I suggest a nice workout.

If done properly, you will be more worried about muscle aches and pains than wagering losses.

Good luck

Weekend- I swear to you, I just mentioned not more than 15 minites ago to my girlfriend the problem I have with sleeping.

Not necessarily over bad beats, but overall in general.

I find sleeping very boring, and thus do not do a whole lot of it......maybe 3-4 hours in a 24 hour period tops. I know this is not good and that is why I brought it up to her.

I usually go to bed around 1:30AM and wake-up around 5:30 in the morning.

I understand what your saying about losing a game on a bad beat.

I would recommend rather than looking at infomercials, get yourself determined and pissed off enough to find a way to have a winning day the following day.

Be confident and never accept losing........which I am sure you dont.

I know you have confidence to regroup.

I too have a rough time when trying to fall asleep... VERY ROUGH...

My only cure has been Ambien or 3-4 nights in a row of almost no sleep+ a hard day of work....

I have alot of bad nerves in my family history..I find that when I go to bed I over think about thing's and stress about them cause I'm concentrating on them so much...

I think Fezzik gave some very sound advice, if you can calm your self down and get to that level of thinking, it does work..

Some other advice "I neglect to follow" Never eat anyhting 3 hours before bed time.. Never drink any cafine (pop) before bed time..I have been eating 3 meals a day and it has helped me avoid that "9 oclock snack" it works like a charm..

Great advice here..

When I can't sleep I usually just take the dog for a walk for about half an hour. It's worked every time so far.

how fast i get back to sleep depends on what i see.

hmmmm, i dont know how much this helps....sometimes i take a half of ambien, but most of the time if i cant get to sleep, playing tetris in the dark helps <no, really...makes your eyes get all weird> or count really really really slow.

i dont have much troubles. i love to sleep and have the best dreams every night. but every once in a while a bad beat <or a hubby tossing and turning> cause me to turn to those options

I had trouble getting to sleep a while back. Now, I play various "thunder and /or rain" CDs. These days I pretty much go right to sleep.

Hot shower/steam room, nob-jobs by your wife/lady, w/new age music work wonders..and don't have sleeping pill's side effects.

Most sleep experts, say to get away from watching tv in your bedroom, no food or caffeine as mentioned above within 3 to 4hrs of sleep time, if you do these, as the room is for sleep & sex(your subliminal needs to associate it as such)..sweat games in office or living room.

Tempurpedic foam matresses and pillows will take away your pressue points, and once used/addicted to them, you will only toss and turn when without them on the road.

Take care WA from Saratoga!

this is good stuff

it seems we all forget what an emotional business this is sometimes. trust me, ive hit the xanax many times over my career but not anymore.

i know this is the last thing you want to hear right now but my life changed completely when i lowered my wager size.

usually i dont even bother checking the scores until pretty late at nite or the next day.

the best part of my sportsbetting life now is, i can have a bet on a team playing the red sox, but in my heart i can root for pedro to pitch a no hitter; it really adds clarity

i dont know what you wager size is but it would be a fair bet that it is too high right now. cut it in half and really start enjoying the fruits of your labor that is possible when betting within the fundamentals that sound so common sensical but are so true

i just heard this the other day and it made alot of sense. the quote was "keep it small and the chips will fall"

im sorry for your sleep problem but if you can accept the things i wrote above, get regular exercise including weight training, and figure out why you are betting on sports in the first place, you will sleep like a baby.

i truly wish you good luck because i remember those days you speak of like they were yesterday

see ya
