not new news but Pitt WR Mo Williams is out for the season due to academics...he was going to be their 3rd WR and big play threat behind Kinder/Turner.

We could also add big time players that are coming back from missing most or all of last year.

Jasper Brinkley, USC fell apart soon after he went down last year, early on they were ranked in the top 10.

Also, Derrick Kimber or Kinder, WR Pitt, missed all of last season with a knee injury I think, 2 years ago he and Greg Lee teamed up to be a very dynamic receiving corp in Pitt and made Palko look like an all Big East player.

<!-- end page tools --><!-- begin story body --> <!-- template inline -->LOS ANGELES -- UCLA tailback Christian Ramirez won't play for the Bruins this season because he didn't meet NCAA eligibility requirements.
The junior will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and can count 2008 as a redshirt season.
"This is unfortunate for Christian and for our team," first-year coach Rick Neuheisel said Tuesday. "I'm sure Christian will work hard to ensure this situation does not occur again."
Strong safety Bret Lockett has been suspended for the season opener Sept. 1 against Tennessee for violating an unspecified team policy involving academics.
The senior will be able to practice when training camp opens Aug. 5.
"Bret understands that he made a mistake," Neuheisel said.

OU starting offensive lineman Phil Loadholt was arrested on DUI charges and carrying an open container in his car..It's not clear yet what the punishment is going to be since Stoops likes to keep these things in house and private..But it's been rumored he'll get suspended for anywhere from the first 2 games of the season to being thrown off the team.

OU freshman WR Joshua Jarboe was thrown off the team today for releasing a freestyle internet rap video on Tuesday that promoted guns and shooting people..An example of some of the lyrics he used:

Shoot you in the head and you might be dead with a halo

So hold on don't beg for your life

Hold on, don't ask please

This kid was also arrested on March 6th on felony gun charges, just a month after OU signed him out of Cedar Grove Highschool in Georgia. Stoops made it clear that no other incidents from Jarboe would be tolerated..So true to his word he let Jarboe go today.

Wow...This is pretty big news. I wanted this kid to sign with UGA. Looks like he might be a handful to deal with.

Lots of problems with this kid dating back to his senior year in highschool. But he is a talented big play WR, and I can see why they accepted him and his faults..Stoops must have had him on a very short leash since making a video isn't really commiting any kind of crime..Personally, I think there is more to this story than what I've read, because Stoops has been known to give kids a second chance....After the gun charge, and then this video, maybe Stoops wanted to get rid of him before he actually followed through and commited some kind of crime. At any rate, I'm sure Jarboe will find another school...Maybe the Criminoles or Miami.

<SCRIPT language=javascript>document.write("");</SCRIPT>Talk about it in The Crimson Corner

A freestyle rap video by OU freshman Joshua Jarboe was released on the Internet Tuesday afternoon. In the video, Jarboe's obscenity-laced rap talks about guns and shooting people in the head. After plenty of debate on Internet message boards and talk radio, a conclusion to the situation has been rendered. Joshua Jarboe is no longer a member of the OU football program.

</TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle>Jarboe's time at Oklahoma didn't last long</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- End Image-->"We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program" Stoops said in a statement just released by OU.

"We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."

Jarboe was arrested on felony gun charges March 6th, just a month after signing with Oklahoma out of Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga.

Jarboe ended up pleading guilty to two felony charges relating to the stolen handgun. The charges were reduced to misdemeanors under Georgia's First Time Offenders Act.

The reduction of charges opened up the door for Jarboe to enroll at The University of Oklahoma.

At the time of Jarboe's admission to OU, Bob Stoops issued a statement concerning his troubled recruit.

"He became involved in a situation at his school during his senior year that certainly has caused us concern. At the same time, we have personal knowledge of Josh through our recruiting contact with him and from personal references from his school and individuals of authority in his life. We feel that he will be a positive contributor to our campus," Stoops said at the time.

Stoops was also quite clear at the time of his statement that no other incidents from Jarboe would be tolerated.

"We have already stressed to him that his citizenship is of the utmost importance. He understands that anything less than exemplary behavior will not be tolerated."

On Friday morning, The Oklahoman printed a story with quotes from Bob Stoops concerning the Jarboe rap video.

In the video, Jarboe rapped about guns and shooting people.

Shoot you in the head and you might be dead with a halo

So hold on, don't beg for your life

Hold on, don't ask please

The video was also laced with obscenities and crude references to women.

In the only public comment Stoops made concerning the Jarboe Internet video, the Oklahoma head coach was defensive of the cries to dismiss Jarboe from the team.

"Kick a guy off the team for what he says? We're starting to talk about everything kids say and do," Stoops told the Oklahoman late last night. "Now we're in people's homes, in their private spaces."

Athens — Two Georgia football players were suspended indefinitely by coach Mark Richt after a wild weekend in downtown Athens resulted in one player's arrest and two others being sent to the hospital.
Long snapper Jeff Henson, a junior from Gainesville, was arrested for public intoxication and urinating in public. He was booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail at 3:46 a.m. and was released on $750 bond at 10 a.m. Because Henson also was charged with DUI last November — he missed the Sugar Bowl as punishment — he was suspended indefinitely.

Junior safety Donavon Baldwin also was suspended indefinitely for his involvement in an unrelated altercation at a bar. Baldwin, who was already serving a one-game suspension because of a DUI arrest in January, was sent to St. Mary's Hospital after getting hit in the head with a beer bottle.
Freshman linebacker Marcus Dowtin also was treated at the hospital for injuries suffered in the same altercation. A release from the UGA sports communication office did not mention any penalties for Dowtin.

There are reports that other Georgia football players may have been involved in the fight or possibly committed other offenses. UGA spokesman Claude Felton said Richt "is looking into everything."

Henson was the eighth Georgia football player arrested and jailed in 2008. Two other players will be suspended for games as a result: offensive guard Clint Boling, one game for reckless driving; and fullback Fred Munzenmaier, two games for underage consumption.
Also, sophomore defensive end Michael Lemon, who was dismissed from the team last month after his arrest on an aggravated battery charge, was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol at the hospital.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia coach Mark Richt suspended linebacker Darius Dewberry for the Bulldogs' first two games for his role in an incident at an Athens-area hospital Sunday morning.
Dewberry, a junior who is the top backup at strongside linebacker, was seen on a hospital videotape oveturning trash cans and causing other damage.
Police initially failed to identify Dewberry. Richt did so later.
"Yeah, it's embarrassing," Richt said, "it's sad. It's certainly been a distraction. There is no way you can say it's not a distraction because it has been."

Dewberry was at the hospital while teammates Donovan Baldwin and Marcus Dowtin were being treated for injuries suffered in a bar fight earlier Sunday morning.
Dewberry is the fifth Georgia player suspended from playing in the Aug. 30 opener against Georgia Southern.
