Toronto Argonauts
Linebacker Kevin Eiben suffered what is thought to be a partial tear of his MCL in his right knee. He'll undergo an ultrasound on Monday and is expected to be out at least two weeks. DL Jonathan Brown played with at least one broken rib. CB Willie Middlebrooks returned from Miami just hours before Sunday's game after attending the funeral of his 26-year-old brother, who was gunned down last week.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Blue Bombers have released P/K Duncan O'Mahony.
Obby Khan will be on the roster with the Blue Bombers this week against Calgary, he won't start but will play. This completes his amazing comeback after his large intestine was removed last Christmas due to a 5-year battle with colitis.
Milt Stegall will not play this week. Head coach Doug Berry is getting frustrated by the delays but will wait. The team originally thought Stegall would only miss the first three weeks of the season. Berry says there is a possibly he will play next week. Stegall still says "it gets better every day." His knee surgery was on May 2nd.
The 0-4 Bombers will start Ryan Dinwiddie at QB. It will be his second CFL start (his first was last years Grey Cup). Kevin Glenn's TD to interception ratio of 2-8 in four games and lack of offensive production made the decision.
Barrin Simpson will be placed on the 9-game IR list and is likely out for the year. He will have surgery to repair the torn pectoral muscle he suffered in the game against B.C and may be back for playoffs. Joe Lobedahn takes his spot as the middle linebacker. Ike Charlton and Kyle Koch are questionable and head coach Doug Berry called Milt Stegall doubtful for Thursday. In order to replace the injured players, Kelly Malveaux will play outside linebacker and Matt O'Mera steps in at right guard.
Stanford Samuels, who is a favourite of defensive co-ordinator Greg Marshall, rejoined the struggling Bombers (0-4) on Saturday and might start Thursday when they host the Calgary Stampeders (3-1). He was at Kelly Malveaux's halfback spot Sunday because Malveaux was playing outside linebacker in place of Ike Charlton, who is questionable for Thursday's tilt with a knee injury.
B.C. Lions
Joe Smith practiced Monday and will start this week. He's missed the last two weeks with a shoulder injury. Running back Stefan Logan will be deactivated this week. Also, receiver Cory Rogers had surgery on his torn achilies Monday and is done for the year. Rookie Rufus Skillern will come off the practice roster and make his first start this weekend. Sherko Haji Rassouli will not play this week after re-injuring his hamstring. He didn't make it out of the first quarter against Winnipeg. Slotback Bret Anderson will unlikely be able to do anything other than be the backup kicker this week because of a hamstring injury.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
Marcus Crandell took the majority of reps with the first team offence on Tuesday and is expected to start Sunday versus Toronto unless he has a setback with his hamstring injury and doesn’t feel comfortable. If that happens, Darian Durant would get the start. Durant said while he would like to start, he puts the team ahead of any individual goals.
Import Dek (Deke) Bake and Canadian Luc Mullinder took the reps at John Chick's spot. Chick injured his knee and is likely gone for a month.
Chris Szarka returned to practice and is expected to return to the line-up. Szarka suffered a fractured foot at the beginning of the season and has yet to play a regular season game.
Montreal Alouettes
Former Argonaut DB Khalil Carter has signed with Montreal. Carter was released by the Argos at the end of training camp. To make room the team released Jason Armstead
Despite a strong game against the Roughriders, linebacker Reggie Hunt may once again be a healthy scratch this week when starter Dwayne Taylor returns after missing last week with back spasms.
Rush-end Alain Kashama returned to Montreal with what is being called a knee injury, however the Alouettes are reportedly trying to trade him and it would be unlikely to see him again in an Als uniform.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Hamilton RB Jesse Lumsden has been cleared to play for Friday's game against the Eskimos.
The Tiger-Cats signed import linebacker Cornelius Anthony on Monday and released import defensive end Charlton Keith. - Team News Release
The Cats return to Hamilton to face the Edmonton Eskimos Friday night in an encounter that marks the first return to Steeltown of former Cat QB Jason Maas since the Cats traded him to Montreal.
Calgary Stampeders
RB Demetris Summers suffered a sprained ankle and is out for Thursday. LB JoJuan Armour has a groin injury and is questionable. LB Matt Grootegoed is also questionable with a hand injury. There is no break but he will still have to wear a cast.
The CFL is reviewing the hit Stamps DE Charleston Hughes put on Ticats QB Casey Printers with eight minutes left in the second quarter of Thursday's game. The hit came on a 31-yard reception to WR Scott Mitchell, and Hughes was flagged for roughing the passer after he smacked his helmet into Printers' face mask.
Usually, a receiver is judged by receptions, yardage and touchdowns. To the Calgary Stampeders, that's for people outside the organization. Receivers coach Pete Costanza has instead designed a points system that is a better judge of overall performance. Receivers get one point for reception or a block, minus-one for a drop or bust, and two points for each of the following: A TD; 15 or more yards after catch; and a cut block or pancake block.
Edmonton Eskimos
Linebacker Fred Perry suffered a dislocated left ankle in Sunday's loss to the Argonauts. Kick returner Tristan Jackson played three days after having one of his wisdom teeth removed.
