Indianapolis vs. New England

I will begin with my feelings on the Super Bowl.
I can’t understand why the sports media and the public refer to it as, “The Greatest of All Championships”, when it can be won by only winning three games in a row in the playoffs.
In order to win a championship in:
·The NBA you must win 16 playoff games.
·The NHL you must win 16 playoff games.
·The MLB you must win 11 playoff games.
Now let’s examine the New England Patriots who are in a weak division enabling them to finish first annually; which only requires winning 2 home playoff games and then beating another team at a neutral site to win the Super Bowl. Gimme a Break!
This year’s 2013 Patriots went 12-4. They played 4 teams who were Over .500 with a record of 2-2 in those games. The two games they won were won by 3 points; Denver went to OT and the Saints lost with 5 Seconds left on the clock. Both games could have ended up in a loss but didn’t. OK, a win is a win.
NOW! We all believe NE is elite and the fact that the Patriots keep appearing in these Super Bowls is some huge feat. Well it’s not!
Let’s look at this year’s results and compare:
INDY (11-5) Actual SOS .515
They played…
8 Teams < .500
1 Team = .500
7 Teams > .500
Indy BEAT San Francisco (12-4), Seattle (13-3), Denver (13-3), KC (11-5) twice.
NEW ENGLAND (12-4) Actual SOS .472
They Played…
6 Teams < .500
6 Team = .500
4 Teams > .500
Therefore, in 12 of 16 games played this season; NE played against teams with a record of .500 or Less. 75% of their games were against teams <= .500. THAT’S F’ing CRAZY!!!
So let’s consider the four games that NE played superior competition:
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Indy won today.
