Wow, this is certainly going to become a hot topic, especially if Tadano makes the team.

Listen: Kazuhito Tadano press conference

Indians prospect Kazuhito Tadano is trying to make the big leagues, but first he had to come clean.

"I did participate in a video. It was a one-time thing and I regret it very much," Tadano told a throng of reporters gathered in the Indians clubhouse at Jacobs Field Tuesday afternoon.

"I was young and my teammates and I needed the money."

The video Tadano spoke about is a pornographic movie he made as a college student in Japan in which he participates in a homosexual act.

"I'm not gay. I want to clear that up," he said.

Tadano said it was important in his development as a major leaguer to tell the truth and be honest with the organization and his teammates. He understands by coming forward with this incident, he could face scrutiny from fans at ballparks ac**** the country.

"I don't understand English, so any abusive [comments] doesn't matter," he said with the help of a translator.

Tadano is a right-handed relief pitcher who went 6-2 with a 1.56 in the minor leagues last season. He has been invited to spring training and could make the Indians bullpen.

Or how he is treated by the media/public. If he makes the major-league roster, Cleveland isn't exactly the most diverse/progressive city.

So he's Japanese, he doesn't speak English, and his sexuality is questionable. Yep, Cleveland would welcome him with open arms.

This is Cleveland we're talking about. If you don't have a brewski in your hand, you might as well be wearing a dress

If he can play great baseball then he'll be fine. If he can save 20 or more games, have a winning record and pitch under a 4.00 ERA in the big leagues, he'll have a great and prosperuos career.

When it comes down to it, all major athletes know they are under the microscope and they all know they've screwed up. They want to win games. If he can help teams win, he'll find a place on the team and will be paid and treated well by most of his teammates.

He'll get a hard time from some die-hards for his entire career, but that's normal. Bonds and Kent never got along. Shaq and Kobe.

When you're talking about millions of dollars, the $ come way before anything else.

If he's a great baseball player, he'll be fine. If he's mediocre, he won't get any forgiveness and his career is over.

Exactly. He'll be fine *if* he's a great baseball player.

But I doubt many teams will want a mediocre player who has lots of baggage, issues, problems, etc. Just ask Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
