Alford is not a given for this job. Greenspan is looking to get the best candidate and he is not an Alford fan whatsoever. Remember Alford once kicked him out of practice back in the MVC days, Greenspan knows that Alford is a dick. A name that has been popping up lately is John Calipari. I'm sure he would love to get out of Memphis.

What about Wittman? Is there much talk about him? I personally can't see the big infatuation with Stevie Wonder. Even most of the Iowa fans think he's a jerk. It's not like he turned Iowa into the most feared power in the nation. He's been away from Indiana for a while. How many 16 year old kids in Indiana remember him as a player? If they had a choice between Calipari and Alford, I think they would take Calipari in a second.

Wittman is being endorsed by the big name players that Greenspan brought in to talk about the job. Isiah endorsed him, I believe Kent Benson may have endorsed him. He may be the best coach of the bunch, but he does not have college experience and that concerns me.

Most IU fans don't want Alford. Hardly any of the knowledgeable fans want him, most in the 20-40 year old range want him. I believe the older alumni want him. IU fans have Tom Crean, Greg Marshall, Greg McDermott, Turgeon, Calipari, Pitino(lot of Pitino talk lately too), Majerus, Matta, Gillespie, Few, Pearl ahead of him. So you can see, Alford is not wanted by most fans, though most view him as a slight upgrade over Davis and feel that he would do better at IU than he has at Iowa.

Steve Alford is a mediocre coach at best and his teams always underachieve. I dont see John Calipari ever leaving Memphis, hes got it too good there. I will give you one darkhorse for the IU job. Rick Majerus. He is interested and would take the job if his doctor gives him the OK. Majerus has always been a great coach, imagine the type of player he can get at IU.

I would have to say they over-achieved this year in coming close to winning the big ten title and winning the post season title.

yeah, but they started 4 seniors. And remember, Brunner and Horner were rated as high as top 40 by some recruiting services. Haluska was also a top 70 guy. So this year, they should have been good with all that experience.
