As the New York Jets continue to search desperately for any positive momentum offensively, the team announced it will switch starting quarterbacks again.
The Jets announced via their verified Twitter account early Wednesday morning Michael Vick will be benched in favor of Geno Smith.
"QB Update: Rex (Ryan) met with Geno Smith & Mike Vick this morning and told the QBs that Geno will get the start vs. MIA on Monday Night."
Smith started the Jets' first eight games before the Jets decided to turn to Vick in hopes of jump-starting the offense. The Jets went 1-7 during that stretch, with the opening-week victory coming at the expense of the Oakland Raiders.
Vick went 1-2 during his three games as the starter guiding the Jets to a solid victory at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 9, 20-13.
Played for the first time Monday night in almost a month in relief of Vick.
Smith finishhed 10 of 12 for 89 yards, and was sacked twice in the 38-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. The game was moved there after heavy snow forced the Bills to relocate because Ralph Wilson Stadium would not be ready to host a football game.
Smith has completed 57.6 % of his passes in 2014 with seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions and 17 sacks.
