In Hold ' Em how do you beat guys like this?

I play with a couple of different groups of people....

when I play with this one particular group, they all play "crazy".....very aggressive, will call all kinds of stuff even though they have nothing....they don't value the chips, all chips have the same value, they do not use blinds, instead having everyone ante 1 and doubling it each time someone busts out...i have been doing great playing with all the other groups i play with, but cannot seem to beat these clowns.....i have only played with them 4 times, but have lost money everytime....i keep saying i will beat them in the long run, but 4 times in a row? just a lucky streak?

Show patience and only call the "great" hands. It takes a lot out of your stack sometimes, especially if blinds are high, but it's the strategy that usually works for me. Sometimes the cards won't drop in place, but percentage-wise, that's probably your best bet... But then again, note that I'm not really a great poker player (I've had GREAT luck face to face in a "bar-room" type situation in smaller tournaments, but none whatsoever online because it just feels like I just crushed by lesser hands all the time...) and someone else will probably offer better advice...

tourney, but they like quick games, they have no patience, so you don't start with alot of chips....

That automatically puts a tight/aggressive player at a disadvantage, and tight/aggressive is exactly how you have to play these clowns. Sounds like the tournament set up takes the skill right out and makes it more a game of luck.

My advice is to start playing crazy like them or avoid the games all together. Unless you get a strong run of cards, you'll end up getting blinded out by trying to play tight.

This is all assuming you're playing no limit.

Death is right on. In many of these "home games" with very low starting chip counts relative to blinds, it's a crapshoot.

You have to play aggressive-PERIOD.

Unless your playing for fun, I would say avoid this game. Tell them you'd rather cut the deck for high card to see who wins, as they are playing a no skill kids game. If they're your buddies you might be able to guilt them into playing a real game.

I am in the EXACT situation in a friendly game here in Omaha every Wednesday. It is 6-8 guys and I cannot figure out how the hell to beat them when I can beat much better players online on a slight profit basis. The buy in is only 30 bucks which doesnt mean much to anyone playing. I keep thinking in the long run I will clean house, but it hasn't worked that way at all.

Sherman, as others have pointed out you're not playing holdem in this game but the lottery. The way to win is to pick the right seat...always insist on lucky #7.

This type of game is a professional poker player's dream table if he can consistently get a game like this on a daily basis. The key to winning consistently with a table like this is to win just a few big pots and slow down or leave. With a table like this, you are bound to win a few huge pots. But eventually they will hit their cards and you will get busted out due to their stack size. I would be salivating if I could find a table like this every day. The only problem with yours is that these are probably among some of your friends so they are not going to like you getting up and leaving. I play in several private cardrooms here almost every day and I consistently make about $400-$500 a night in a 1-2 pot limit game. On some nights when the table is like the one your are mentioning, like this past Saturday night, I made $1600 sitting down for about 3 hrs work. The most important key is getting up and quitting. This is a skill in itself that many have yet to master. I have seen many awesome poker players lose in the long run because they can't get up. Eventually the cards will cycle and the other players will start hitting their hands. The key is leaving before that can happen. In a cardroom, it's much easier because you are not playing among friends and you can leave anytime you want. In a private game it might be frowned upon. I am satisfied with hitting 3 big pots which in the games that I play equate to about a $500 profit. I don't think there would be many who would complain about making $500 a night doing something you enjoy. With a table like yours, patience is the skill. Don't get caught up in their game. You might not win that many pots but when you do, they will be monsters(if you play them right).
