Good thing you guys are not a leader in this country. Could you imagine all of the violent thugs roaming the country killing people whenever they want.

What a great world that would be.... Felons would be roaming the street killing people and the citizens would not be allowed to have any guns to protect themselves....Sounds like a world I want my kids living in!!!

Nice try, Kman ... you need some facts to support your argument?

Without legalised gun-toting, Canada's murder rate is half that of the US. Since abolishing the death penalty in 1972, our murder rate has declined by 27% and our first-degree murder conviction rate has soared by 42%.

Not only does gun toting not protect your society as a whole or the death penalty prevent 'thugs from roaming the streets', but the notion of putting someone to death may deter a guilty verdict from the jury.

Violence begets violence.

And I made an error in my earlier post -- our murder rate is actually slightly more than 1/3 that of the US, not half as I'd previously stated.

BUSHMASTER: ....that is a nice government you have hideing behind the real world power, but when you guys have a threat or terror attact ummmm who will you come calling.

BAR: Looks to me like all the terrorist attacks in North America take place in the U.S. We can't discuss what might happen in Canada until one happens there.

BUSHM: maybe you canadans should open some more strip joints

BAR: Nothing wrong with strip joints.

BUSHM: ....and get a couple more motocycle gangs to run your drug trade that supplies us americans ,

BAR: That would be the illegal drug trade you refer to? The illegal drug trade that exists because the Bush administration threatens Canada with trade sanctions if they try and soften marijuana laws?

BUSHM: oh and buy the way that is a nice health plan you guys have also.

BAR: I can't speak as a Canadian, but all those I know agree with you that there health care system is preferable to that of the U.S. So, thank you for noticing.

Barman: there are definitely some issues within our health care system, but I don't think they would be so noticeable, per se, if it were not for the pseudo-capitalist system in the US. By that I mean ours is generally slower. Emergent care is probably the same (you don't wait any longer in emergency rooms, nor do you have to wait for tests if there appears to be urgency) but if, for example, you needed an MRI on your knee, it will probably take three months or so, unless you were in serious pain.

Canadians feel as strongly about protecting their health care system as Americans do about protecting their right to bear arms. It's so much a part of our fabric that I don't understand the argument against it.

The rest of bushmasters statements aren't worth comment.

X,

It took me 6 months to get an MRI thru the HMO plan we have here at work, multiple referrals, etc. so you ain't any worse than majority of Americans in that respect. Also, obviously your prescription drugs are cheaper which is why so many Americans are going over there to get 'em.

As far as gun control and lower murder rates, I would argue that Canadians are just worse shots than Americans.

Strange the way daddy let all us Marines down as well by not getting Saddam in 91'. Ask Norman about that. You know, back when we had a REASON to attack him.

that was NOT the intent of the '91 mission (which is what you get when you enter under the UN charter!), and you know that!!!! quit being so goddamn disingenuous!!!

you bitch about not getting the un's blessing now, then you bitch about not going after hussein in '91 when the un specified that we were to secure kuwait ONLY!

typical liberal twisting the shit out of the facts

The General is right, Bush must go. Most importantly, Cheney and Dumsfeld, they are the masterminds of this lunacy.

The Administration's economic policy is a disaster, face it....2 million jobs lost, record deficits, and the most alarming of all, record trade deficits, which have the net effect of selling off our country to foreigners.

Wake up you thick-headed self-righteous goon facists and admit that supply-side economics is a pipe dream. Also quit telling anyone with an opinion that is different from yours how wrong they are and consider it is you who is most likely wrong.

I don't know when exactly my opinion on Canada soured but it's getting to be on the same level as France. The accusations of American arrogance and antagonism are funny if not sad.

Mudbone,

I understand your frustration. However, it's more your employer's fault than the HMO's. Your employer is doing their plan/plans on the cheap. My employer has changed providers annually for the past 3 years. My rates have increased 18% on average in that same time frame but I'm still only paying $5.47 per pay period. I can self-refer to a specialist if I chose to do so.
I know you don't want to hear this but if you want better coverage, pony up some cash to either augment or replace your existing coverage. IMO that's how it should be.
I think I paid over $4200 annually for me only.
Good luck.

Hey Mudbone who invented Magnetic Resonance Imaging?

Did it come from your soicialist state?

Quick, when was the last time a medical breakthrough occured in Canada? Yea good system ya got there, depend upon the gov't to advance mankind, yea that'll work.

Are you sucking up the benefits of the American capitalist system and bitching about it out of the other side of your mouth?

While I usually think some of these posters are drooling neo-fascists I have to side with them in being very strong pro-gun. Guess the fact that crime has gone up quite a bit in Australia after increased Gun Control has escaped some of our fellow posters. If a country can't trust it's law-abiding (for the most part

) citizens to carry firearms then how really free is it? Don't own a gun myself but believe in this strongly.
