im not new around here .. i just dont post much ....i do a lot of reading tho....i was up a bunch of money going into last weekend .... was betting 100 bills a game ...then went to 500 a game ...had one good weekend with the big units then got hammered last week... i havent been the same since ..im in the hole big time and im at the point where i am second guessing myself everytime i go to make a pick and i am over anylyzing everything ...last night i wanted Cincy all day... then i took So Fla last minute.... i think some of you may know what im going through.....ANYWAY...im looking for some help this week....any one have a really strong pick with a little bit of info to back it up just to give me some confidence.....please post ...it will be greatly appreciated
This happened to me all the time few years ago, been playing this for almost 30 years already. I know how painful to find $ for the local on Thursday due date. Here is few things you have to discipline your self:
_ Gambling is only for FUN (because we all addicted), play only we can afford it
_ Bet against yourself (the more risk you take the more chance to win),last night you did not like Cincy, just because you don't like USF -3 until last minute u got -2 or -2.5.Though that a good deal. It fooled everyone with that.
For example Did you like Texas -6 early in the week?
Will you take Tex. now -3.5 ?

this happened to me a few years ago when i first started picking. the 1st week ever with my picks i went 8-3, and had a pocket full of money. then i decided to buy some service plays (big mistake) and double my bet amount. i bought a package with 5 games, and i picked 6 more. the paid for picks went 0-5, mine went 3-3, so that week i was 3-8 with doubled bets. so i felt stupid and broke. since then, there are a few in the service play forum i like to look at, but if i dont agree with them, i dont play them.
anyway, you should not try to win your way out of debt. you should pay your debt and start over with the wisdom youve gained from a bad weekend.

I'd also advise cutting your unit size by a large percentage. If you started out betting $100 a game, perhaps try slashing the base unit to $20 until you get your feet back under you and your confidence up again.
The single most important thing about betting during a sports season is simply not to go broke. As long as you have some bankroll remaining you're in the game and there's still hope. So don't focus on getting back to even, focus on not going broke.
Stay alive and make sure you have funds to bet when things start going your way.

Do you bet online? If so, place some very, very small bets. Pick your own games, but only bet like $5 a game. It sounds stupid, but it is a way to still have fun picking the games, without the extreme pressure.
Or if you must bet your usual amount, then follow the others' advice and pick one of the good cappers on here and follow his plays exactly. Don't tweak it at all or try to pick additional games.

Great idea....then head over to NFL forum, check out who the top cappers are in the Hilton contest & put a LITTLE coin on those teams and build back.
Twice this year I got cocky because I was doing well & went alittle stupid (one week in college & one week in NFL) and that was the week I got my ass handed to me but instead of chasing, I slowly built back up & I'm now about where I was befor getting stupid....which is still ahead for the football season.

Get out now!! I quit this year after 22 years. It is liberating. Get control. You will never beat the man! You may one week or even 1 yr but I guarantee you will give it back. It has very little to do with handicapping and everything to do with the psychology of the gambler. The man banks on two things GREED and DESPERATION.

Does not matter how disciplined you claim to be or these guys claim to be the gambler will always chase down those losing weeks and lose and always bump after big wins. ACE ACE is probably the only exception and I have seen him do the same thing. GET THIS IN YOUR HEAD, IT IS A LOSING PROPOSITION and YOU ARE A LOSER FOR GIVING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO SOME OTHER LOSER THAT LOVES TO SEE PEOPLE FAIL. GOOD LUCK!
