Pro-Trump Georgia Democrat calls out Antifa 'looters and hoodlums' who hijacked Atlanta protests

In the wake of the protests that erupted in Atlanta over the death of George Floyd last week in Minneapolis, Georgia State Rep. Vernon Jones said Monday that the event started as a “legitimate” demonstration by people who wanted to exercise their First Amendment rights.

“However, that was hijacked by looters, and thugs and hoodlums who did not in any way honor the gentleman’s life and those other lives that were lost in unfortunate situations,” Jones, a Democrat who supports President Trump, told “Fox & Friends.”

Demonstrations in several cities, including Minneapolis, Atlanta, New York, Denver and Portland, started peacefully on Friday but turned violent at night as police and protesters clashed. The riots led to the destruction of police and private property, with rioters looting many businesses.

Jones said that he appreciated Trump designating Antifa as a terrorist group because they are “professional, organized and well funded.”

“I appreciate the leadership shown by the president to provide and support state and local levels again. The federal government is going to have to target this group with technology, now doing facial recognition and other things.”

“We can track these hoodlums down and we can bring an end to this.”

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday slammed Bill de Blasio's handling of riots in his city, calling it a "disgrace" and saying he has the power to "displace" the mayor -- though doesn't want to at this point.

"The NYPD, the mayor did not do their job last night," Cuomo said of New York City's mayor. "It was a disgrace."

He said the mayor "underestimates" the scope of the problem, suggesting he needs to deploy more police.

In an extraordinary statement, he went on to say his "option is to displace the mayor ... bring in the National Guard" and essentially "take over."

However, he said, "I don't think we're at that point."

He added, "That would be such a chaotic situation in the midst of an already chaotic situation. I don’t think that makes any sense."

Cuomo and DeBlasio jointly impose an 11pm curfew yesterday.

Now today Cuomo blames DeBlasio for the bad handling of the riots.

He calls it a "disgrace".

I guess murdering over 10,000 innocent people with your nursing home mandate isn't a "disgrace"?

This reminds me of how he just handled the Nursing Home mandate he created for COVID patients and int he end blamed the nursing homes for takign the patients.

Also reminds me of the thousands of COVID respirators sitting in a warehouse in New Jersey while he was crying about how he didn't have any.

Cuomo is a bad person, a bad politician, a bad criminal and a bad liar.

Cuomo has the power to remove DeBlasio.

Trump has the power to remove Cuomo.

Republican Party of Minnesota Chair Jennifer Carnahan is calling for Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, both Democrats, to resign amid the violet protests sparked by the death of George Floyd while in police custody.

“We’ve watched for over a week as our governor of Minnesota and the Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey completely failed all the residents and citizens of Minneapolis and Minnesota,” Carnahan told “Fox & Friends First” on Tuesday, adding that the two have been “playing political games.”

She went on to say that “it was unfortunate to see because it took three nights of full chaos, destruction of our city, burning down of a police precinct, rioting of businesses before they did anything and then their actions were very light and still contributed to continued chaos in Minneapolis.”
