I'm totally confused after all recent legislations regarding on-line gambling in USA. Is illegal for me to bet on-line or it is illegal only to orginize and advertize on-line betting. I appreciate if somebody describe what is recent situations for ordinary on-line bettors in USA.

There is a bill in the Senate to ban money transfers to and from Sportsbooks. No changes yet as to the legality to wager online by individuals. I think there are two states where it is illegal already. Indiana & one of the Dakotas I think. Maybe more but not to many. There is no criminal penalty for the bettors included in the bill. It affects commerce businesses that help in the transferring of funds.

I think we are all hoping that the gov. will view it like Hemp. Sure, weed is illegal, but the gov. is not invading people's homes. At least not yet. If they look at it the same as weed, we should all be o.k. betting online.

The US government regularily burns down marijuana plants whenever found----but I don't see them burning down (or arresting any offshore folks, that stay offshore.)

It's funny, becuase horse betting is legal and there is TV chanel for this purpose. In the same time sports betting is illegal.

rebeka - Last time I checked you can bet on sports games in Vegas...but NOT offshore via a telephone line.

The horse thing has me confused too. i can logon to youbet and have no worries but not sports betting. gambling is gambling. Our govt is so screwed up it is amazing that this country has survived for 200 years.

has some gret info from a poster that contacted www.gamblingandthelaw.com and talked to a law professor there it is not illegal YET in my opinion, but they are trying to make it so

Smoking weed doesn't exactly leave a paper trail ....

unless your NETeller's are to Carlos Escobar with a memo of 'ganja' there's no way to catch you other than to see you doing it. (which they will arrest you for).

It's much easier to go after gamblers because we're moving thousands of dollars back and forth through the same limited number of channels (NETeller, Firepay, WU, etc ..). Not exactly the same as buying a dime bag from Joey 'Crack Head' in the alley.
