I have a BBT credit card i've had since I was 16 years old. I use the card for nothing but gas and the occasional online gambling deposit (very very occasional, like once or twice a year as i normally use western union). I went online today to make my payment and noticed the card status said "suspended". I though wtf, I have had this card for years and always paid it off completely each month. I called the number on the card and they informed me my card will be closed next week because they have a record of me making an online gambling deposit in May. BBT'S NEW POLICY IS TO IMMEDIATELY CLOSE ANY CARD THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH ONLINE GAMBLING IN ANY WAY AND REPORT IT TO THE CREDIT BUREAU AS CLOSED DUE TO ILLEGAL GAMBLING ACTIVITY. I am in the process of trying to buy my first home and I have a 785+ credit score. This could have ruined me. Luckily for me I have someone in my family who is a bbt executive and have been with the company for 20 years. She was on the phone all day for me and managed to keep my card active as long as I promised (talk about them making you feel like a criminal) to never use this card for online gambling purposes again for the rest of my life.

I will be sending this family member of mine a very nice thank you card and gift for helping me out. But I think this is very important information for everyone in the forum.

Change banks? Why stay with them? Honestly I didn't know any CC company still allowed online gambling deposits.

I do not bank with them, just have the 1 credit card there.

And i'm sure most banks don't allow online gambling, but this is the only one i've ever heard of that will close your account and report to credit bureau
