Look at this starting lineup:

Aldridge 4
Duncan 5
Leonard 3
Parker 1
Danny Green 2

If they are healthy in the playoffs I'll go as far as to call them a lock. That is 4 of the NBA's best defenders in the starting 5 and all 5 can score. No one is beating that team if they are healthy.

If they can pick up superstars like this, I think Pop can keep coaching and winning.

Parker and Ginobili will be put in the trash bin soon, unfortunately. Maybe last year for them. (Is Manu still on contract?)

But the year after Duncan leaves they'll need another big star. I remember when Phil Jackson didn't have players....

... and Doc Rivers and on and on.... if you don't have horses, you don't win.

Would be interesting to see Pop with a 41-41 team or less.... if he can't get more horses. Wonder what would happen to him.

I think Duncan has been old for like 20 years now.

Most amazing career in NBA history in some aspects

They're also getting David West who is rock solid - team is as good as u can ask for but could use a second team scorer - Manu is done - someone like Jamal Crawfors would be the icing

Still too old; if they get lucky and get out of the West, a healthy Cavs team will beat them easily.

Can't agree at all. Duncan is better on both ends than Mozgov. Aldridge better on both ends than Love. Kawhi is one of the few defenders at SF that can slow down LeBron. Kyrie would have to be huge for the Cavs to have a real shot in my opinion since Parker is beatable. I think Spurs take that series in 4, maybe 5.

Green really took a lot less $, he could've got another 12-15ish on the open market. Score 1 for no state taxes.

Aldridge/Leonard/Green in 2 years will be making less than 1/2 the salary cap, so the Spurs now have the flexibility to add even more pieces once Parker/Duncan/Ginobili move on. Leonard 5/90 was 1 of the best deals of the offseason, just perfect timing his extension was due right before the cap was set to skyrocket.

I'd probably put SA over GS now. I'm higher on OKC than most assuming Durant recovers from the jones fracture, even though Kanter is a liability defensively he is a huge upgrade over Perkins and OKC has some better roleplayers than they've had in years past, when their roleplayes were pretty much all zeroes. Also Donovan can only be better than Brooks, can't really be worse which is underrated.

Too bad Jordan left LAC, would've been interesting to see them with Pierce and an improved bench.

Definitely a great bet if you can find them anywhere near to pre-Aldridge prices. But Golden State (and the rest of the West) is just too strong to like the Spurs at 5-1 or whatever they're at now. Warriors won more games last year than any non-Jordan team in NBA history. They had an all-time great year in of both wins and scoring margin and not much reason to think they'll fall too much next year. Thunder could be a top contender again; along with Rockets and Clippers if a Western team isn't the #1 or #2 seed they will have a tough match-up every single round.

Even if you think Cleveland is only the fourth best team in the league, they still have to be the favorite to win the Championship

They are going to be tuff to beat. But its a long season and age in athletes can creep up fast, much of their core on the verge of retirement

Warriors still the best in the west.

GS won and deserves the title but they also missed the Spurs, Clippers and played Cleveland without 2 of its 3 best players - to say the stars aligned is an underestatement

Besides maybe Malone with the Lakers, that is the biggest example I've seen of giving up $ for ring chasing. But even Malone was playing 30 mins a game.

He gaveup 11 million to play 14 minutes a game for the Spurs.

It's the most egregious thing I've ever seen a player do

Their only weakness might be backup PG with Joseph gone to Toronto. Parker can't defend much and Patty Mills isn't any better. Both can score though.
