I quit smoking a year and a half ago. I chewed nicotine gum for about 6 months and then quit that. I smoked for 10 years bout a pack and a half a day. I still felt the draw (I still felt like I was an addicted smoker who didn't smoke) for about 9 months and then the addiction was over. Now I am and feel like a non smoker and there is no difficulty at all.

I know at times it feels like the addiction will never end but at some point you will be free of it. BTW the nicotine gum was harder to quit because I had nothing to fall back on. It can be done though just gotta get through the tough first couple months.

I'm down to three a day, I can't get past that one at 6:30 am after coffee.
(if I could, I'd be there with you Doug)

yep, no cigs or weed.

I don't think I'll be going back to smoking cigs ever again.

Been smoking for 5 years (23 now) and am in the process of quitting cigarettes. I still get stressed easy with work and school and sneak a cig every now and again. When I go out drinking, instead of buying a pack of smokes (which I'll usually crush the whole thing when I'm drunk), I bring like 4 Swisher Sweets. While yes, still tobacco, 4 swishers over the course of an entire night, is better than a whole back.

I only smoke when I drink now but I am thinking of going back to dipping, to at least get the nicotine, and stop smoking completely.

What really did it for me is the pricing. It's too much at the store, and ordering takes about a week, so if your not getting it when you want it, it's easier to go without it.

My cig company went out of business too, but I know there are others. Eventually they wont be able to ship at all.

I don't see how any smoker in expensive states ( like NY,CT,MASS,etc.) can pay retail instead of ordering online.

I grew up in Boston and every time I go home to visit my family, I don't smoke or dip the entire time. It's just ridiculous. In WV though, I can still get a back of Marlboro Menthol for less than $4.25

Yeah,it's like $8+ a pack in CT, I hear over $10 in NYC, that adds up fast. It's like $4.50 online for Marlboro, or $2 for generics.

Why do you need the nicotine ?

Dipping is pretty gross too, fuck up your teeth and gums, get oral cancer instead of lung cancer....

Well, let me rephrase, I still REALLY REALLY enjoy smoking. I just know if I don't stop in my early/mid 20's I probably won't. I know dipping isn't any better..

9 days in and still going strong... This isn't as hard as I thought it was going to be...Although I got a wicked cold the day I quit so i've been sick the last week which has definitely helped and laying of the sauce during this has helped also...Congrats Doug!!!

Doug I can relate to the price issue...When I was home visiting family in chicago last summer I paid 10 bucks for a pack in the city. I don't see how you could afford to smoke a pack a day living up there $280+ on smokes a month is insane. Down here in Costa Rica the packs are $1.50 I actually started smoking when I moved here at the age of 29 because they were so cheap. Although the quality of smokes are not nearly as good as in the states..
