Must say that the article on the front page from Wild Bill must be the most uninformed article I have ever read at the RX.

In terms of handle in the world probably 75%+ of soccer action is on the asian lines. This often has a hold percentage of less than 2% with pinnacle and WWTS to name but two offering less than a 10c line. 3 way betting is strictly for the squares and very few professionals or savvy bettors touch it these days.

Sorry Bill but not up to your usual high standards.

I don't beleive that Asian lines handle 75% of action, it's coming more and more popular, but handle is still a lot under 50%.

75% is conservative. Arguably more than 75% of money bet on soccer is bet in asia and that is probably 95% on asian lines.

Sky, where is the hard data to back up these claims?

This has been a great week for the mainland UK books such as Hills (largest market cap book in the world I believe), Ladbrokes & Corals. Better than the 02 World Cup which was massive.

90% plus of these bets will have been real mug bets, typically on England to win at shockingly mean prices.

As with many competitive markets - cars, CDs, clothes, golf clubs to name just a few - in betting the US market is much more competitve, Europe is high margin AND high turnover.

Thank God for Betfair!

Of course there is no hard data as the asian market is illegal but I have worked in both markets and in UK (betfair excepted) there are rarely 10k bets laid. In Asia bets of $1m are commonplace. Asia is by far the bigger market and there asian handicaps rule.
