Most bands start with an equal split deal.
Most bands start with minimal money in some guys basement as friends and make a verbal agreement or it is assumed everyone gets equal.
I would be surprised if U2 does not still split things equally. Obviously that does not include non U2 endorsements that any one member might do on his own, but I mean concerts, U2 endorsements, cds, etc.
Almost always when a front man tries to get greedy the band breaks up - see Guns N Roses where rather than keep making 100s of millions, Axl sued for the GNR trademark...
Now if a band is formed with one famous member, obviously the split will not be equal.
