If You're Team's Season Is Basically Over Are You Happy When They Win A Meaningless Game Or Does It Piss You Off Screwing Up Their Draft Position

I know some true fans believe you are supposed to root for your team all of the time, but in my opinion sometimes you have to be a realist & understand what gives you the best shot to get better.

If my team is going absolutely nowhere, I'd rather see them lose out and it reallyyyyy ticks me off when they decide to show up out one week out of a blue moon and win a game to screw up their draft position.

Your opinion or preference?

Depends where the team is at.

If it's a team with a young franchise QB obviously you want them to keep getting better as the year goes on even if it is sacrificing a few spots in the draft.

I still root for my team. I understand why it's better for them to lose but it's too conditioned into my brain.

Good reasoning Pats.

But what if they need to lose in order TO GET that young franchise QB .... lol

If it is a team with a lameduck coach/no future then yeah you would want them to keep losing (i.e Jets)

If your a Raiders fan or something though, you atleast want them to play well because it probably means David Carr is playing well and you haven't had a franchise QB in forever...Jags w/ Bortles, Vikings w/ Teddy Throwsevelt samething

Them ending the year with some momentum and on a positive note is worth a lot more than a few picks.

During the 2011 season, I was rooting against the colts all year as a fan.

1 win can be the difference between getting Luck and RG 42

And Manning and Leaf.

Its basically trading 1 shitty year for being in contention for 15 years unless you draft defense then good chance that player will be on a different team in 6 years

I root for the Skins no matter what!! Not a tank fan whatsoever! Build some momentum, fix your faults, start preparing for next year. The football draft is not like basketball.

F the draft. If the G men can ruin the dreams of either the lowly Philly fan or the demented Dallas fan then I'm all about the win.

Pats is right it really depends on the situation. If the team is void of talent then you want the draft position. If its team with lots of young talent trying to figure things out than you want them to win.

Would the guys who say F the draft and always root for a win, root for a win in game 17, in a meaningless game, which would not keep a rival out of the playoffs, when an Andrew Luck caliber QB is waiting at the end of the rainbow, and you have a bum, or a done vet at QB?

As a Cowboy fan I am so use to them losing over the last couple decades that if their season starts going south I start rooting for them to lose. Watching JJ fail every season actually brings me the same amount of enjoyment as watching them win. I guess I'm not a very good fan. Although, I do watch every down every game. People in Dallas get pissed when they lose like they have some kind of ownership in the team. I became emotionally disconnected about 10 years ago.

it's hard to root for a loss, but if I don't watch I might not care
