I personally have children, and if they made boatloads of money by exploiting naiive gamblers, i would want nothing to do with them as I will know they have chosen to disacknowledge ethics and values. I want my children to know that i will be prouder of them if they are middle class with ethical conviction than if they are affluent due to exploitation. Does any of this make sense?
Its funny how I just recently noticed you posting...I see you have been a member for many years but only have 200 posts...You think I could start a thread a "Sitdown with The Journeyman" question thread with you sometime? I just read where you say the IRS cleaned you out, I would love to have you in for an interview...I am not a big fan of your type of handicapper , maybe you could shed some light as to why your group isn`t so bad? Price, Feiner, Bash, Duffy etc???

I have a little experience working in that industry...About 12 years ago I had a short stint with Mike Warren (the antichrist himself) I saw firsthand how slimy it was, I heard the sad stories...I watched his boiler room in action...It was way too disgusting a place to try and work, I was just out of school but it didn`t take long to see how much of a con job it was....
Warren was the biggest bozo too...I don`t know what ever happened to him, he went on to start the 'psychic friends network' lol...extra salt in the wound, Mike Warren actually ended up buying Eddie Murray`s 500th home run ball for like 1 million dollars, then a year or so later it was in the local paper he welched on the deal...I really don`t think these guys know just how bad they are..

I also have children and I am the same way -- exploiting the exploitable is not noble in my books. I like to think my family is further along in evolution than that. But if I had to choose between having a son who gets rich like that vs. having one who gets poor by using the services of such an a-hole, I would choose the one who gets rich. Both are complete losers in life but at least one of them is rich and is, therefore, better equipped for survival than the other.
When exploitation occurs I think the blame is shared 50-50 between the exploiter and the exploited. The way to attack the problem IMO is to create an environment in which really stupid people (like the ones who buy tout services and get screwed) are either forced to smarten up or else feel so depressed that they won't have any children. This way those bad genes will die out. Then the ape-like tout a-holes will be forced to be more ethical because it will be the only way they can survive.
When a bad kid asks "why should I be good?" I need to give him an answer that shows that it's in his interest. Saying "because I say so" or "because the Bible says so" doesn't cut it with me. I have to explain why being good is on a higher level on the evolutionary scale than being bad, but this is hard because often the rewards only come in future generations.
