This is the short version of a long story. My wife had a birthday this weekend and we had a surprise party for her. Six of her friends from high school flew in from all around the world (one is living in Italy). The group applied to be on the Oprah show for a makeover and they got by the initial screening and they are in contention. That may be the next story.

Well my kids say James Taylor is mom's favorite singer why don't we invite him to the party. OK kids I will get on the phone and call him up and see if he wants to come to some strangers birthday party. I start searching the internet for a way to get a hold of him. I join his fan club. I try sending an email to the fan club and it just gets kicked back. I do some more searching of maybe some less obscure people like band members who might have a way to forward an invitation to James Taylor. So I start sending out nice emails about this group getting together from around the world and how my kids wanted to see if we could get Mr. Taylor involved in some way. I included the names of all of the women coming.

Well somehow, someone I emailed, forwarded the email and it somehow got to James Taylor. He overnighted 6 signed 16x16 pictures so they would be here for the surprise birthday party. He also personally addressed each of them and wrote a different note to all of the women on their pictures. I had my wife's quickly framed. Then at the party I gave my wife a book on the life of James Taylor and each of the women a copy of his latest CD and DVD One Man Band (we already have that and it is excellent). They were thrilled. Then I got out the signed pictures and and the response was one of total disbelief.

I just think it was very cool of James Taylor to take the time to do this for 6 total strangers. It made the party a hit and everyone is still in shock. It's good to know that there are some good famous pople out there.

Here's to you James Taylor :dancefool:dancefool:dancefool:dancefool:dancefool

I was busy playing host I didn't take any pictures. Some others did but I will probably just get hard copies. Listened to his greatest hits today, the man writes some great songs.

At the height of their fame, I remember reading that he and Carly were the highest earning couple, NOT Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. I almost never like the remake of a song better than the original, but I did with TWO of his remakes: "Mockingbird" and "How Sweet It Is((To Be Loved By You)" and I was QUITE fond of Marvin Gaye's version. I even liked that he didn't get landscaping done, but just gracefully went bald...
