If you were transported 10 years back which events could you remember to bet on?

i'd bet the house on Duke against UConn when Duhon hit that 3 point shot at the buzzer. With 3 minutes remaining, I'd keep on telling everyone that Duke's got it in the bag.

I think some are missing my point, although it's still interesting to hear the choices. My point was more about who could remember something 10 years back. For example, those of you who mentioned a date in 2004 would still have another 7 years of remembering to do between 1997 and 2004. That is, unless you wrote down all the dates of the events you remembered once you were transported back to 1997.

So scratch my original intent of remembering back 10 years. It's still interesting to hear the things people remember from the last 10 years.

I would remember just about 80% of the games being played every night and the results enough to never lose a game.

If I could go back further I would start a sportsbook and offer Mike Tyson at -2000 against Buster Douglas - start a whole bunch of fake names on forums and talk about how dumb this book was to offer free money.

January 2000: I would hedge my preseason bet of Titans to win the Super Bowl. Hmm actually first I would stop myself from making that bet and just put it all on the Rams.
October 2004: I would wait till the Red Sox are down 3 games and then bet them to win the World Series.
Jan 2007 I would hedge my 80-1 Saints to win the NFC and 14 to 1 Pats to win the AFC bets :(

Speaking of hedging the SB.... anyone recall that Giants fan who put $1000 on his team winning the SB at 1000-1? So 1000 X 1000= $1 MILLION!!!!! He could've hedged with Ravens ML at -130 but refused to do so. I bet he's kicking himself still.
