anyone can open a account, but most books have gotten out of the phone account buisness and with the limits and the hassle of making a phone bet not to many people use it anymore

The phone accounts are for the little guys now. I used to have a couple and hardly used them, especially post pager days. Having one isn't that bad of an idea though, but just a Stations or Coast account because those books go crazy at times with the square (often bordering on downright stupid) money. Football season and playoffs you will sometimes find they have chalk at even higher prices than even Bodog. But most of the people I know that like them are just locals that like to make a lot of $20 and $50 plays, especially half-times.

you also need to be a resident of Nevada so if you live in NJ you are out of luck

Like all good Vegas things sportsbetting-wise, phone accounts for all intent purposes died.

There used to be a day when the 20 to 30 biggest bettors that move the boards, raced each other in w/10K phone calls to SuperHilton, Mirage,etc..while some having their ear-pieced runners at the same joints double-pounding it for whatever was allowed simultaneously upon the adjustment.

Depends on the sportsbook, but because of the IDIOTS with the gaming comission they have a limit on how much you can wager per day of 2,000, you can blow your grocerey money at Albertsons playing video poker but god forbid you want to make a couple of dime bets on your phone account

As long as the book administered the max bets uniformily it would be ok. For instance--Monday, you could play 2000 on/against the Yankees. But Tuesday the limit was less.

Not that I could bet 2 dimes to start with, but not knowing from day to day-I would not like that.
