which sportsbook would you use to get the lead on a CORRECT line move??

Know which one (or two I would use), but cant give away any clues.

Feel free to list different books for different sports if you feel the need to do so.

Thanks in advance!

No one book will always give you the answer, but hands down it's Pinnacle without a doubt on most types of lines (esp totals).

Seems this answers some part of the puzzle with following or fading line moves which was discussed recently. Actually just a varying opinion likely.

It seems the whole world uses Pinny. I can't disagree. They have beat me for tons.

Credit shops off the screen. I have found a couple that get hit very early on moves. I rarely see them behind any of the books mentioned here.

But just to check for a consensus "correct" line, Olympic works for me.

FISHEAD...........very good topic sir......

LAKERFAN...........i always knew you were a sharp guy.........

for books on screen........pinny, cascade, cris, blue grass, buckeye....should garner special attention.. for baskets pay special attention to pinny, cascade, bluegrass.

like Lakerfan, i use credit shops as a gauge.....credit shops that cater to sharps are the best line indicators....imo

just curious as to the inclusion of buckeye. i have looked at there numbers quite often but don't notice them being ahead of the curve. i have been involved in this discussion in a few different places and have been told more than once that the larger the market the more accurate the number. in that case wouldn't shops such as grande who supposedly have fairly high limits post a more accurate number sooner

Does any other book shade their lines as much as Pinnacle? I would guess that is the big part of it.

JIMMYD......quote...."the larger the market the more accurate the number"

depends on who the action is coming from....

i have a small book of 150 during peak football season, "my public action" is the same as public action at books of 1,000 or 10,000 players.......yes there may be some "regional bias" in some situations...but on the whole, JOHN Q PUBLIC is the same over here...and over there...

also...

my sharp action...will mirror other shops sharp action...

this isnt opinion, its basic fact....

lets not forget the basic principle of bookmaking.....getting action on both sides....(in theory)...if you use that principle you are assuming that because PINNY is hanging a different number than its counterparts.....it must be sharp action....but is it????.....i dunno you tell me....

this is a very complex topic.....you have to factor in many situations....public action, sharp action, book exposure, ect..

i have tried to figure out why a book was dealing a certain line.....on many, many games ......and i have yet to determine a concrete angle.....

if you were to go back 20 years ago and focus on a handful of the big credit shops.....you would no doubt get a solid handle on which way to lean.....nowadays......i dont think you can....

Fish, I just came across this thread. Good job. I posted a weak attempt to get this same info. What are your conclusions, if any?
Do you know how to get some older threads out of this site on this same subject? Every search I use turns up zero.....ScottyS

General might be able to give you better insight than me........I have good luck either just typing one word or just doing a search on a particular poster.

Hope all is well with you Scotty.....

I am out of here now until later tonight.

Take care
