Mississippi St is -36' vs Jackson St...the SWAC, best I can tell, has not played an SEC team in at least 20 yrs, if ever (and if you go much further back racism prevented it). Last year SWAC teams played 1-A teams 6 times, and the avg score was 56-8...their best 2 teams, Grambling and Southern, lost to Houston and Nevada by scores of 55-3 and 49-13. On the other hand Arkansas St beat Tx Southern 83-10 and Troy beat Alcorn St 65-0. None of last year's games even were against bcs teams. The two other opponents were UAB and La-Mon. I mean, there is a big gap between bcs and non bcs conferences, so how much should State win by vs Jackson St? Name the score...it will be very hard for them not to score 50 points. The SWAC media poll picked Jackson St to finish last in the SWAC division they're in. So we even have a very bad SWAC team....66-0 State.

MS State SUX. That is a bad football team with few skill players. New coach should give them some pop but u can't polish this turd. Make no mistake, you are very correct in your analysis of Jax St - JX St SUX immensely. I am in SEC country and follow MS St some as i have friends that graduated from there. I will wish you luck on this but hard to ask a bad team to cover 5+ TDs. I think there are some better plays on the board but my opinion dont mean much as last yr was my first winning yr in CFB in the past 5 yrs. My success was DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTED TO THIS FORUM so keep looking in here and post more winners every chance you get.

I can appreciate your perspective on a bad team covering 5 TDs, but you have to remember, as bad as MSU is, they are bad against D1 teams. There is still a major talent gap between MSU and a SWAC team. While guys at MSU are not Florida, Bama level players for the most part, they are also above CUSA and MAC level. The guys at the SWAC aren't really good enough for D1, they are solid for D1AA (or whatever they call it now).

These are the kinds of games where teams like MSU pound a lowly team like this, because they know they are the ones going to get pounded the rest of the year.

everything is relative...

think ark st and troy suck? they beat their swac opponents last year 148-10....state will have to try hard not to score 50...this is a 70-80% play imo. The fact that jackson st won their division last year keeps this reasonable (less well known is that jsu is picked last this year. For the sake of comparison Ark St and Miss St are 40+ favs against swac in wk1.

Leave it up to an SEC team to schedule another crappy team OOC so they can inflate their W/L record.

Periloux is at Jacksonville State not Jackson state , but ur right about him being suspended for their 1st game which is against Ga. Tech.

I'd be leary of giving up 36 points on Miss. St. , i'm not sure they will even score 36 points.... i say miss. st. 23-7.

I am not questioning your logic on Ark St and Troy but both had good offensive squads and could move the ball in the air. That may not be the case for this MS St team. Don't take this the wrong way. I hope you win this one. I have eaten a lot of crow in my day and this may be another opportunity. I guess it would be better for me to say that i am not going to load up on any line of 5+ TDs when Ms St is the favorite.

Now lets go get paid. :toast:

all relative

if they played a SWAC team every week they'd likely avg 50-60 points a game. Think about it...the SWAC gave up 56 ppg last year vs Div 1-A, and that was not a bunch of high octane offenses...LaMonroe, Troy, UAB, Hou, ArkSt, and Nevada...couple of good ones, couple of average ones, and a couple of shitty ones...and that's average for non bcs...there is a chasm between C-USA and the SEC, not to mention the f'ing Sun Belt. For chrissakes the C-USA champ has yet to win a game vs the SEC's 8th best in the 3 yrs we've had that matchup in the Liberty Bowl. These are the teams that are in that 56 ppg avg last year. I'm tellin ya guys, there is value here. Jackson St is picked last in their swac division...one bet doesn't prove anything, because hell, even I would have to say as confident as I am I know this will lose at best 1 out of 3 or 4...and that's if I'm right in my logic. All about value...my biggest bet last year was on Washington St catching way way too many vs Hawaii...and I talked about it beforehand on this board. I guess we'll see soon enough, which is what makes it all fun, right? Added bonus is this pig of a game will be on ESPNU at 2:30.

ok. i am on it. However, i will give you fair warning, everytime i bet on MS st to cover they fok me. when i bet against them, they fok me. if i bet them here i will take the blame on this not going well for us.

See my name, there is a lot of truth in it.

Ark St also went into Kyle Field and beat Texas A&M last year. Last time I checked A&M was in Big 12. Ark St also went into Austin as a 39point dog in 2007 and it took a 4th qtr TD by UTexas to beat them 21-13. I had State in both games because they have some great athletes on defense. Ark St would go into Starkville and hammer MSU. I doubt anyone lines MSU and JSU HOWEVER, I'd stay away because MSU has AUBURN the following week and IF, they get up early, they'd be smart to pull their starters and save them for the Auburn game. Just a thought.

ps68 totally get where you're coming from and if it was ANY SEC team other than Miss St I'd be a follower but you must realize this program has not scored more than 38 pts in a game since week 2 of 2002. And, since then, we're talking about playing Gardner-Webb, SE Louisiana, Jacksonville St, and Murray State

as far as predicted order of finish you were WAAAAAAAAAYYY off as Jackson State was picked by the SWAC coaches to finish FIRST in their division. doh!

I highly doubt the media put them last in the East if the coaches put them first

Coaches’ Predicted Order of Finish
(first place votes in parentheses) Eastern Division Western Division
Jackson State (13) 103 pts Grambling State (14) 104 pts
Alabama A&M (8) 95 Southern (5) 86
Alabama State 56 Prairie View A&M (3) 76
Mississippi Valley State 46 Texas Southern 43
Alcorn State (2) 45 Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1) 36
