A variation on this I remember from a counseling elective I took in college was: Half your age + 10. Simple math will show the older you are the greater the range of years. But from a social standpoint, the older you are, the more likely your 'life' experiences are similar. Case in point, under this equation a 50-year old could date a 35-year old. Other than older children, I would think the two have shared some very common experiences (i.e. success/failure in past relationships, success/failure in professional careers, etc.).
Long-winded, I know. And, the truth is my ex-fiancee was 21 when we met (I was 30 at the time). It did last seven years until this March. So, I guess one never knows.
Using this formula - check out those 27-year olds (a pretty good age for women - they haven't hit the 30-year roadblock yet).
I don't think age is as much of an issue as maturity. There are plenty of idiot immature chicks that are 29 while the converse may be true (mature and 21). That said, I think you would be hard pressed to find a reasonably mature chick that you have enough in common with to want to date that is under 25ish.
Anything Over 18 I guess if you'd want to but I know personally I want to bash my head against the wall after spending more than a couple hours with a woman under 23. I think mental compatibilty is the key. I like woman close my age but honestly I look much younger than I actually am and I'm far too shallow to date any woman that is close to my age and looks it.

gotta say, I am pretty suprised at the genuine-ness of this thread...I was expecting to see alot of nonsense....the girl I am talking about is 20, smoking hot, and a Psychology student. We work together and have had some very serious life-type conversations as well as her interest in hockey/Flyers is a common interest we share. I did some math, obviously, and when I am 40, she would be 26 which would be weird. But I am a young looking 34 year old, and at times goofy. PPl usually guess my age at around 27 or 28. Not really sure what I want from the friendship/relationship other than we enjoy each others company. She has been flirting with me lately in a sexual manner and of course I return the jesture. There are starting to be "awkward moments" where there are other ppl around and it seems some time alone might be better during those situations....
Anyway, we are going to the movies on Sunday evening, late night after work, to see "I am Legend", so I will report back in then...LOL. Again, she is a fucking total hot box, and very mature and smart, but being honest I dont think anything long term would work, but who knows. I want to bang the hell out of her, that goes without saying, but my main goal here, again being as honest as possible, is friendship.

If she's 20, and still going home to her parents every 6 weeks or going home for winter break, they are paying her rent, her tuition etc....thats a kid in my opinion. She was in high school less than three years ago.
