Come to think of it, it may be true.
No sign of the guy or his family.
Maybe they were they only ones worthy.
Kinda like Noah and his family were the only family worthy back then.

In all seriousness, its sad that you have people like this.
I get amazed every single day at the stupidity of people.
No wonder these Nigerian email scams stay in business.
Plenty of idiots to go around.

Mark my words.
If this guy ever comes out of his hole, you can bet he will come up with a new date, and these same people that ruined there lives over May 14, will fall for the new date just the same.

Guys like these really make life difficult for the real believers.

Some people really have a bad habit of throwing all Christians into the same boat as these clowns.

I respect peoples beliefs and am not going to go bashing the bible or christianity. The values jesus preached in the bible were wholesome and if all humans lived by them, this place known as earth would be heaven. It's unfortunate a good majority of the christian leadership consists of fearmongers, charlatans, and megalomaniacs.

That said, I didn't follow this story one bit until yesterday. I knew it was a big fear mongering joke and figured it was the media giving a small group of kooks the spotlight, like they do with the West Bapist Church.

Then I wake up today and read 20,000+ people believed that the earth would randomly rupture, they would spring to the sky onward to heaven, and god would torture all non-believers before murdering them all six months later in a ball of flame. A good portion were so convinced the emptied out their bank accounts and sold their possesions. What the fuck?

These people are no more delusional than individuals who study aliens all day and wear a tin-foil hat to prevent aliens from reading their thoughts. It's unfortunate alot of society doesn't see it that way.

Almost all Christians believe that Jesus will come back. The only thing this guy did was put a date on it. "Real believers", as you put it, are just as delusional as Harold Camping.

I read more about this and it's kinda sad. The guy that spend $140,000 doing all these promotions was just some disciple of some radio evangelist. What a scumbag this radio evangelist is.

If God is real why do people think they need a middle man between them and God. It makes no sense to me.

Actually, it is estimated that only about 20% of Christians believe in a "rapture." And, only a very small % of those believe that some donk can set a date and time for it...

Actually, many Christians believe that JC "never went away", so he does not have to "return".

We believe the life force to be eternal and when JC was crucified his life energy merely moved to a higher plane of existence. And from that plane he - like many other Master Teachers throughout the history of our world - continue to inspire and provide guidance to those who themselves seek moments of higher enlightenment.

The key distinction with regard to the above line of belief is that many Christians (not me) promote "JC" as only being available to provide spiritual teaching and guidance to a select few who "do the right things" in their life. (fill in the blank as to what those Right Things are).

Others of us believe that JC and other Master Teachers are available to anyone seeking higher enlightenment. The Dahli Lama has provided us with but one of many explanations for this energy being available to any of us who sincerely seek it.

Stupid Apocalypse Tricks

I don't know if they actually went through with it, but I thought it was a brilliant idea.. A group of pranksters were going to strike at 5PM Saturday-when Jesus was due to ride into Tulsa on a giant cloud.

First thing, they filled some blow-up sex dolls with helium and watch people's reaction to being left out of the "Mass Ascension."

The second part of the trick was to dump small piles of clothes on the downtown sidewalks.
