i do not play offshore to avoid taxes. i play offshore because its the only game in town, unless i am in las vegas or want to take my chances with a local bookie.
the draw back to playing offshore is this type of nonsense with panam. to me, i would much rather pay taxes on my winnings than have to constantly worry about the safety of my money.

Even if sports betting were legalized nationwide, all that would do is give corporations such as MGM/Mirage, Park Place and Harrah's an opportunity to f**k bettors all over the country instead of just in Nevada as they do now. All they would attract is $5 bettors and that's all they want. The bullshit rules and regulations that would go along with legalized sports betting in the United States would drive even more people to offshore betting than have already done it.
Offshore betting is the only way to go and it's here to stay.

All things being equal, I would prefer to play in a jurisdiction where I would have some sort of legal recourse should something go wrong.
I find it hard to believe that were sports betting to be made legal in the US, that Vegas would return to the high limits and high rollers of the past. The books chased out the sharps for a reason.

Why doesn't the US learn from the UK which must be the most deregulated place in the world for gambling.
Make it legal - offer 20 licences(auction)- $20million bond cut out the rubbish and have a independant watchdog/committee to monitor fairness else threat of losing licence & tax the sportsbook operations on their profits - say 15%.

The Vegas Sportsbooks don't want big action most of the time. Especially places like Harrah's/Rio. Caesars and MGM/Mirage properties will fade bigger action, but seldom will give much line value. When I lived in Vegas I did virtually zero offshore betting. Just knew I had easier access to my money if the tix were placed at the Suncoast by my house.
