What would the playoff matchups be?

I am not certain if the top record team in each league, I.E. Yankees, Braves, would play the wild card team by default or if they play the team with the worst record to make the playoffs.

I am thinking these would be the matchups..

Yankees Vs Red Sox

White Sox vs A's

Braves vs Philly/Florida

Cubs/Houston vs San Francisco

Call me crazy but if the Cubs get in, they win. And , btw, it has absoluetly nothing to do with the primmadonna Dusty Baker, the GM made some great moves getting hitters to make their run!

You can't play a team in your own division in the first round. Thus, the Marlins or Phillies
would not play Atlanta in the first round. Phil or Fla would play SF while the central winner would play ATL.

I think it will be:

Yanks/CWS
Oakland/Boston

Atlanta/Houston
SF/Florida

Of course these reflect my belief that Boston will win the AL wildcard, Florida will win the NL wildcard, and Houston wins their division. Yep pretty sure these are the 8 play-off teams.

I'd be shocked if Seattle didn't make the playoffs, their recent implosion notwithstanding.

I also don't think the ChiSox have the pitching to hold off the Twinkies...formidable lineup, but that ain't gonna do it alone, and certainly won't take them far in the playoffs.

Very disappointed in KC and Montreal...as they've now all but faded away. I always root for small market teams in baseball's absurd economic system.

The funny thing is although you may be right and the cubs won`t win, they should win.

They have great starting pitchers and good hitters.

They have a weak bull pen which has killed them.
