One would think stuff like this would the the things from which dream stories are made ...

<!--StartFragment --> MARINE APCs APPEAR AT ANTI-WAR PROTEST IN WESTWOOD

(Indymedia)

<!--StartFragment --> LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2004 - At 7:50 PM, What were first reported to be tanks and now identified as Marine APCs showed up at an anti-war protest in front of the federal building in Westwood.
The APCs circled the block twice, the second time parking themselves in the street and directly in front of the area where most of the protesters were gathered.

Enraged, some of the people attempted to block the APCs, but police quickly cleared the street.

The people continued to protest the presence of the Marines, but after about ten minutes they drove off. It is still unclear as to why they were <!--StartFragment --> deployed to this location.

The media has treated Bush with kid gloves ....

When Clinton was president the press referred to him as "Mr. Clinton". When the press talks about Bush they refer to him as "The President" or - at least "President Bush".

It's disconcerting to watch reporters give President Bush what amounts to a free ride .... they passed on unanswered questions about Bush's dealings with Harken Energy, his stonewalling of 9-11 investigations, Cheney's Halliburton connections and Cheney's secret meetings with Enron in the White House days before Enron collapsed ... events that have received far less coverage than Clinton's Whitewater Land deal or VP Gore's Buddhist temple fundraising ...

It is obvious that CBS hates Bush and Fox loves the man .. just depends on who is reporting and what they feel is important

From some blogger:

"It had become a big story on dailyKos and since this event happened in my backyard, I figured I'd do some digging. I called Representative Henry Waxman's office and they were equally curious about the story and have been extremely helpful in trying to get to the bottom of it. They found out that the tanks had driven up from Camp Pendleton in San Diego to attend a Veterans Day event that was to take place today at the West LA Veterans Affairs Center, which is just up the street from where the protest was."

Funny story though. The bravery of those kooks to attack a moving bus with a picket sign, and then pull a Tienenman Square stunt by blocking a tank from moving down the streets...why, it just brings tears to my eyes.

Belittling what happened in Tienenman Square, now that's really in poor taste.

BTW are you forgetting that the freedom to protest is one of the things that supposedly makes our nation great?

Actually I was belittling what happened in LA. The guy in Tienenman Square was soon taken away and executed. These peaceniks, always willing to make a stand as long as they don't suffer, stepped away from the tank as soon as the police asked them too.

Not necessarily shotgun, the brave "peaceniks" that got segregation ended and our asses out of Nam got gased and beaten by the cops frequently and even shot on occasion.
