If Pats cover we may see some books close. (and finish closing)

This is one of the few times books are forced to gamble.

It is pretty safe to say Vegas didn't cap the cappers accurately. Pats should have opened at -7.5.

Anyways...If they win by 8 or worse 9 I'm guessing the slow pays will start.

If I have money at PanAm I might even think about letting it ride on Carolina. One might believe Carolina covering is the only way PanAm decides to keep running. If that was the case that would be the best way to make use of your money that is riding on Carolina whether you like it or not.

play pats -7 or pats moneyline?

lol

if pats - you win in the other book and you get your money back when panam goes down

if car wins you lose on your other book but since panam won and now has money you will get paid for the car wager you placed w/ panam

knowing our luck car will win and panam still goes down

dont wager no more

it can do more harm!!

Well, same thing by wagering PanAm funds on Carolina except if you bet elsewhere on that pats instead... you still aren't sure PanAm pays you and may lose both. I say make the most of funds already at risk.

I hate to see an out I have hanging on yet with 6.5 as they must be getting pounded with Pats action as there are few places else to get that number. I can't believe they are getting any appreciable action taking Car+6.5 at this stage or for last few days.

Bull,

Yes, unless they took a monster wager early on and can hold but ....

What book is that?

Bill-

No disrespect sir, but saying the game should have opened up -7.5 would not be considered an intelligent statement.

Fish,

None taken.

In the future if you do not want to convey disrespect you can try correcting or telling why you think that way vs. labeling unintelligence and walking away. I'd be interested in hearing why I was so idiotic with my thoughts.
That should have been in moderating 101.

Thats just my opinion and not the point of my post and doesn't change the circumstances.

Bill-

The truth is I am showing you great respect by not explaining it to you.

I believe you to be easiily sharp enough to figure out why opening this game at -7.5 would not have been a good idea.

I dont believe for a second that you cannot figure out why.

ps- If anybody would like to explain this to Bill, be my guest. I have some chores to attend to.

My thought was it would be better to go down from 7.5 to 7 and hopefully back up to the chalk vs cros*ing the line from 6.5 to 7.5. Plus, I was agreeing with what I read from vegas interviews.

Sometimes a discussion on these very points does more good for the people listening to the discussion that it does the participants.

Also, having your ideas challenged only helps to strenthen your arguments, yea?

I guess I am an optimist because 15 different shops hold my money. That being said I am not sure if it matters who wins. Some of us will be left holding the screen shots.

I usually go to Wagerline.com to see where most of the action is going. This is what they show for the game as of right now:

NFL Consensus
Carolina vs. New England
02/01/2004

Visitor Wagers Line Home Wagers
Carolina 603 +7 New England 400
Consensus Carolina 603 New England 400

Based on this, and if this is representative of what is going on at all books offering 7, I would think that books would take a hit if Carolina covered.

Someone please explain if I am wrong. Thanks!

I cannot imagine any bookmaker not making money on the SIDE on this game!!!!

They should be in a WIN WIN situation!!!!

They will just need one side a tad more than the other but both should be in the plus side.

The number SEVEN is the only thing they have to worry about remotely as far as the SIDE is concerned.

Im under the same impression re: the wagerline issue. Thats a pretty darn good indicator of how the action is coming in.

I dont see this game one sided at all. I even know sharps who are on opp sides.

Boxing Freak beat me to it. I was gonna say the same thing. And judging by the amount of time it's been hovering in the low 7s (like -7 -102 or so) it looks as though the books are laughing their way to the bank regardless of the outcome.
