I have been watching this line steadily move up all week long. It started at 11.5 and has almost moved 2.5 points. Seems like alot of Public money is driving the movement. Also ESPN has been hyping up SC this week talking about all their returning starters on D.

What do you guys think is A) driving the line movement and B) is NC St. a solid play at +14?

It opened at -13, dropped to -11.5 and has slowly climbed to -14 @ the greek.

I would be careful betting NCST here, they are going to have to score about 15-17 points to cover and they are decimated with injuries

I have written this game up numerous amount of times so I will be brief.

I predict a score of 31-13 or something along those lines, 27-10, whatever.

You have a RS-Frosh QB making his first start in a very hostile environment (see Andre Woodson @ SC on a Thursday Night in 2007).

The top 2 RB's coming into the season for NCST would of been Jamelle Euguene and Toney Baker. Baker is coming off a knee injury, he is out this game. Eugene was just announced today that he is out. The top 2 RB's now are Andre Brown who is coming off a broken foot and Curtis Underwood who has 19 carries last year.

The top WR Bowens is out for the year

The OL has two converted DL making their first start on the OL.

The defense lost 5 of top 6 tacklers and has to replace all 3 LB's.

The projected Safety Clem Johnson is out in this game and they are starting a frosh back there.

I know I am missing stuff but things are not going NCST's way right now.

SC is very healthy going into this game and they are looking to make a statement on national TV in spite of what happened last yr.

Be careful

I agree that you should be careful here. I think that NC State would be extremely lucky to score 10 on this defense, unless they have a pick 6, or something like that. That being said, SC has shit the bed their share of times as well. SC's Defense is undoubtedly going to be very strong, and opening night at home on Thursday against a frosh QB....good luck. But, SC's offense is yet to be determined as well. What will their QB do? They aren't exactly loaded on the offensive side.

I say stay away from it, and just hammer the under. I got it at 48.5....like I said, I don't see State scoring more than 10, and that would put SC having to post 39+ to go over.....just don't see that happening.

check the injury report for NCState first and you will know why the line is going up.

to many injuries for me to play state.....obrien will use the new clock rules to his advantage this game.....he will try to shorten the game.....maybe a play on the under might be good....i look for spurrier to try to put it to state as this is important for recruiting in NC....

Why would the books leave themselves wide open for this Nationally Televised game on ESPN?

The public is going to be all over USC in this game. First College Football game of the season, everyone is going to bet this game.

South Carolina's got some issues too for this game. I would rather have Smelley in at QB than Beecher who's never played. RB Davis won't start -- maybe this is Spurrier's punishment for missing a practice - who knows. That's not a huge deal as Davis definitely will play. RT Meredith is out due to suspension. FS Stewart is questionable. CB Carlos Thomas started the last two years but is no longer the starter. Spurrier's teams at South Carolina only covered 1 out of 3 opening games. That one cover was a very ugly 15-0 win over Miss St two years ago.

I like South Carolina (unfortunately, I didn't play it early) but all these issues plus the line move make it a no play for me.

No way could I play NCS given their issues which have been described well in previous posts.

Well not many of these are really issues.

I would not rather have Smelley start. Beecher has a stronger arm, has more mobility, and doesn't telegraph his passes like Smelley. Beecher is a better fit to manage the offense which is exactly his job. Davis is not starting because he had to battle a shoulder injury and flu in the last 2 weeks, he will get more carries in this game, Spurrier is just rewarding Rank for his hard work. They've known the whole year Meredith is suspended 2 games and Eckerson at LT has started 5 games in his career. Meredith will be LG when he comes back in WK3. Carlos Thomas and Stoney Woodson have split playing time for the last 2 years, Woodson had a better summer so he will start. These 2 players are inter-changeable.

I know a WR that starts for the Gamecocks and he/they are VERY confident about this game. I am taking a shot on USCe -13.5.

A WR from the Gamecocks that start...hmmm, Kenny, Moe, or Deon,... I will go w/ Deon for $100
