I said this ages ago. I have no idea why you just posted this but I said it about 2-3 times this year where he alone has cost me a game.

MF,

Runners on 1st & 2nd, 2 Outs. Ron Howard is coming to Bat ( Did not Start Tonight ) Pitch hitter

Balimore is up 3-2

You have a Base Open, why take a chance against Howard ??
Walk him, and load the bases

The extra Run doesn't matter, why take a chance on a guy like Howard

Trembley has NO CLUE

Man I expected to win the battle of the bullpens. That's what pissed me off most when Bergeson finally tired. But alas, Philly, being without a closer may get us this game yet.

Thank you Brian Roberts.

Trembley might be bad but to int. walk Howard is a terrible play and almost no manager would do it in that spot.

If it was 2nd and 3rd then you are obviously right. 1st and 2nd you don't walk Howard. You put 2 runs in scoring position and you leave the pitcher with no margin for error since a wild pitch or walk scores a run. It looks like a bad play to not walk him since he hit a homer but the smart % play is to pitch to him.

What a153 said. I still want to reiterate anyway. :)

With a 3-2 Orioles lead (that was recently a 3-0 lead), you simply do not put two runners at 2nd and 3rd (from 1st and 2nd) after intentionally walking Howard. One hit would make it a a 2-run RBI to make it a 3-4 Philly lead.

Now that you say it, yes, it was runners at the corners. Sorry, I just remembered that.

In that case... no, still don't do it because of the fact you are putting 2 runners in scoring position when it involves them being the tying & winning runs.

I love this stuff because you never say never and half of the managers in the bigs are morons so if they play % then it is right .......I say bullshit play what u think is right Joe Torre (who is a horrible manager of bullpens ) people think he is a god well watch what happens to his team in the playoffs SEE SCOT PROCTOR does he even have an arm anymore..........................no outs in the 8th jeter up(BTW anyone at bat should be bunting) and man on 1st and 2ndd HE SHOULD BE BUNTING I don't give a shit about % or anything grounds into a DP (is what he always does that is why he is batting leadoff ) I love when people says never
