I agree. The odds I keep seeing for a boxing match if it happened is McGregor around +1000It would be a bigger accomplishment for Mayweather to beat McGregor in a UFC fight vs Connor beating Floyd in a boxing match...
The reason I think Floyd would be such a huge underdog in an MMA fight is clinching. In boxing, in the case of a clinch the ref separates them. Floyd would have absolutely no answer for McGregor getting in on him and kneeing, elbowing, taking him down, etc. Literally all McGregor would have to do is rush in protecting his head and eat a body shot or two, then fight over. It's all speculation because it is never happening but Floyd in a MMA match probably wouldn't be a bigger dog than CM in a boxing match.
MMA is just a much more high variance sport than boxing. You can be a better boxer than someone and really be 99% to win a 12 round fight. That is why you see the extremely lopsided records in the sport.
CM would likely crush him but if Floyd landed flush with 4oz gloves then he could probably KO him (he would likely break his hand in the process) That is atleast a pathway to victory. I really don't see what CM's pathway would be other than injury or Floyd just being a shell of himself.
I think you're using hindsight with that Couture/Toney fightI think most of the books offering the -2000 are doing so because people would have to tie up $ for a long time and the limits are lower.
If they actually fought I think you would have to lay more like -2500 or -3000+ but who knows.
When Coutour fought Toney in the UFC in 2010, he had roughly 0.0% chance to win and Coutour was only like -500. I dunno how the books didn't make Coutour higher, Toney was like a fish out of water.
I think you're using hindsight with that Couture/Toney fight
That was the first time that a high level pro boxer went up against an MMA fighter in the octagon I believe, and people weren't real positive what would happen.
